Very much this, the vast majority of boxster owners also admit to it.

This simply isnt true. They are completely different cars. I test drove both, can afford either and chose the Boxster S over and above. More fun plus I didnt have to fork out and extra £30k just to own the 'icon'.

Lol I lost count of the number of boxster and 911 owners' tyre business I picked up from rivervales mental pricing policy regarding charging main dealer labour rates for fitting tyres over about a 10 year period, hence being in a position to say that most boxster owners admit to buying a boxster as they couldn't afford a 911, many turned into repeat customers who went on to buy a 911

And in answer to the original question, it's one of those cars that divides opinion but IMO any car with the power to weight ratio and handling of even the most basic boxster isn't really girly at all.

I used to manage an ATS Euromaster but I left in august '09 to care for my disabled mrs full time. Drop me a pm and let me know where you are and I might know an ATS manager near you that can do you a deal.

no.
its a 'I can't afford a 911' car

this. anyone who disputes this needs to understand this is the stated reason why Porsche make the boxster, to broaden their market to those who cant afford a real 911. or handle one...

In as much as it won't kill you in the wet?

not true, with modern ones at least. on a track day i had a 911 in the rain after a Ferrari, and i was more comfortable and confident with the Porsche.

the "not a real Porsche" thing is over done, its a sports roadster/coupe with a flat engine. its not like its that travisty the Cayenne or that abomination with 4 doors. Ferdinand must turn in his grave.

True this.

I still don't really like it though - purely a matter of taste though. Its just not how I want a Porsche to look. I love the Cayman.
