A match in which Andrew Moran was captaining the side and James Furlong was making his first start for the U-21s (with Killian Cahill on the bench).

Racism is stupid, agreed.

Send off the player and Kuwait might still win.

Abandon the match and the racist will bear the burden of of having cost their teammates the fixture. Might make racists use the second of their two brain cells in future.
Will he though? UEFA?FIFA far more likely to fine Ireland for refusing to play/walking off and award the match to Kuwait.

Alas you are probably right...but well done Ireland and Mr Moran if he took the lead on this.

effectively condone racism? would be brave, even for UEFA.

UEFA woud of course condemn racism, but unilaterally walking off/abandoning the game, that is open defiance and disrespect of UEFA - that in UEFA's eyes would be justification for throwing the book at Ireland - can't have players taking decisions into their own hands without UEFA sanctioning the acion! Oh no no no, dearie me!

P.S. In case of doubt, my view is well done the Irish.

Wasn't going to happen - the Irish U21s were 3-0 up at the time.

Black Irish players have been subject to a lot of racism in recent times - it was inevitable that the players were not going to tolerate it.
