at the end of the day its your preference Dave and i dont work for sony, but ipods arnt great and ive heard that from a lot of ppl that have them. Also you may not think you need all that space, but listening to the same tunes every day will drive you mad and over time you will accumulate a lot more music. You won't want to be swapping tracks over every day. On my new sony i have every song ive ever downloaded 14Gig and still have 6 gig spare and the battery life is remarkable. and they are sleek and small. Go into any shop and they'll probably recommend it.

:)

iPods are too damn expensive, the sound quality is noticably poorer than iRiver (also too damn expensive), Creative or Sony; they're uneconomical to repair, and they use that  travesty of a synchronisation application

Oh, and when the hard disk in them starts to go a bit off - if the battery lasts that long, that is - you get nice fun issues like "can't put on any tracks beginning with I or X" or similar. Whereas Creatives and so on just zero out the bad sections of the disk....

At the moment I have a 256mb MP3 player that plays tracks in alphabebetical order. I want to be able to listen to whole albums.

I'm looking for a decent sized MP3 player that I can use while running.

Anyone know of a decent product that won't jump/skip while running?

being a techno phobe i have a couple of questions...

what is the difference between an ipod and an MP3 player?

how many albums on average can you fit on an ipod of 4gb? and would you multiply that figure by 5 for a 20gb one?

thanks.

I was thinking of getting an IPOD for my birthday ( october)

I am looking at a 4GB Mini ( in pink LOL) - £130

Anyone any advice

I dont see the point in a 20Gb one as I would only ever listen to a few albums anyway

I have bought 4 in the last two years (3 as pressies) and the last one I bought is a 20gb one with pictures. Its f'ing excellent and I wouldnt look at anything else.

This is legit, I know someone who got it:ohmy:
i did follow it up but you are forced to sign up to two adverts of a possible 20 or so, most of which require you to deposit some money into a new account and must also get five friends to do exactly the same. a hell of a lot of hassle but woth it some may say.

Don't know enough about the Ipod, but got a Creative Zen Micro 5Gb from Amaxon for £133 and am well impressed. More than enough capacity for my CD collection, and easy to rip tracks.

Superb invention, well worth the outlay.

Only query I would have is over the claim that you get 12 hours out of the rechargeable battery!

Other half has got a 20gb creative zen for £150 which is great, I'm waiting for a decent mp3 with a digital radio, only one I know of is £150 but only 264mb space

got the 20Gb Ipod and never had a problem with it. it is great that i can carry around my whole music collection at all times. my wife has the 4Gb mini and wishes that she had got a bigger one now....

hmmmmm i leave it for others for the obvious jokes :shootself

I have had an iPod for about 2 years, think it is one of my best investments. I have about 160 albums on it, there is room for at least 100 more, only got it because I knew that I would be working abroad last year for a few months and doubted that I would be able to get any decent music there, on the balance of things it was one of my better decisions. Top tip is get rid of the bud like ear pieces and invest in something better, I did and reckon it sounds far better.
