file converters? i-tune? Importing?

now if you got a decent jukebox instead of a hyped up, albeit good looking, ipod you might just be able to drag and drop straight to the machine using a nice little USB lead instead of a specially built expensive apple lead....

:clap2: :clap2:

Someone I can agree with

iRiver - pure USB Mass Storage, plays virtually anything thats thrown at it, works with any OS. Damaged the lead? Buy a new one in Maplin, or nick the one off your printer....

Does your computer even have Firewire? Most PC's don't.

In that case, you have to use the USB2 lead. Oh, if you've not got USB2 you're screwed... the iPod doesn't like working over USB1.

My ipod doesn't mind my usb1.

I presume its a G1 or G2 that came with Musicmatch, then?

The G3/G4 machines do not like syncing with USB1 Macintosh's anyway. Hence the huge rush by the obsessed macheads to get USB2 cards for their old machines..

Age doesn't come into it. Firewire was only ever commonly adopted by Apple and Sony. So unless you're using a Vaio laptop or desktop, its unlikely you have firewire.

Firewire looks like a USB port thats a bit fatter and has two corners cut off at one end. If you're using a Sony machine, its a little tiny rectangle with a bite out of one side, and you need a convertor lead to turn it into the full size "Apple" port.

No run of the mill pc laptop. It is a new fangled shuffle though.

The Firewire cable isn't going to go into a USB port. You have to use the USB cable, which would have come with the iPod assuming you did buy a Windows one and not a Mac one...

Wozza - Apple in general is meant to be idiot proof....
