I would question the rates with your network supplier. I got an S3, unlimited calls and text. 1Gb of data for £31 per month.

this is my deal as well for my s3! free phone too. i was being offered £46 per month for iphone 5 on same calls, text, free phone etc.

If you already own an i-phone i would recommend taking the 5. You'll be used to os, apps and how it links up with your other gadgets, . If you don't, then go with the samsung, honestly imo it's a nicer phone. Oh and why are you taking the upgrade in the first place. Almost guarantee you'll get a better deal expecially on the S3.

Colossal Squid - I am finally upgrading from my (now prehistoric) iPhone 3GS

I had a look at the Nexus and the HTC, but have ruled them out - although I agree they do look fairly good - but I had to refine my search

Thanks Dover - my decision is made, I will stick with Apple, and get the iPhone 5
Yoda - I will try and get them down in price, you never know!

iphone 5 for me... Is a lovely looking bit of kit and easy to use...

The one downside is doing everything through itunes... where as the s3 is a little less restrictive...

By the sounds of your post id say the easier simpler iphone 5.

Then unless you don't like your 3GS it makes sense to stick with Apple. Any apps you've paid for you can keep on your new phone and transferring all your data and user settings will be very simple

I did have iphones previously, but much prefer the s3.

If you going to use it for watching video, games etc then s3.

the unbiased tech world consensus (abridged) is the S3 is the best hardware, but the iphone has iOS which is considered nicer GUI (though they screwed up the maps).

These threads are always a good read. It gives the majority of iphone users the chance to justify the exaggerated prices they pay. Always so quick to shoot down other handsets despite the fact that most will more than likely have ever used an alternative smart phone.

Iphones are for simpletons who want to show off Galaxay is for people that know what they are doing and don't want to pay over the odds.

No, not any more. The S3 is really user-friendly, and Samsung have put some decent additions in there (like multiple apps on-screen at the same time).

I'd say go and spend 5 minutes playing with them in a shop and see which you like more. There's no wrong choice between these two 'phones, it's just down to personal taste.

Price wise i got an s3 for £21 a month, 1/2gb. Only about 200 minutes but more than enough for me. Try getting an iphone5 for that money..

There is the small matter of the screen size that no one so far has mentioned. I'm using a galaxy note 2 and just cringe every time I pick up my wife's iPhone 5!
I would wait for the S4 if you don't mind waiting a few months it will trounce the iPhone 5s (probably released soon after the S4).

Cheers for all the advice. Much to ponder. But as I said earlier I will prob be really dull and stick with what I know - an iPhone. Really genuinely appreciate all comments though. You are a good bunch really! :amex:
