No expert on this but I believe that will be the case. My Ipod has a much earlier version and tells me it is up to date and I have an old iphone that also has quite an old version and tells me that it is up to date.

I think Apple might want you to buy a new Ipad :wink:

I have also noticed that my Iphone SE seems to run it’s battery down quicker after every update

I have the same problem with my battery.

Does anyone know if a new battery will fix this or do i have to buy a new phone?

My mum recently had the same problem with her ipad 2 (my old one from around 2011).

A lot of her apps had stopped working due to this same problem so I told her she needed to buy a new ipad.

She only went and bought ANOTHER ipad 2 :facepalm:

Yeah, a new battery will likely resolve the issue.

Batteries degrade and lose capacity over time. There are a fair few tools about which will report on your battery health if you want to do that before investing cash.
