What a load of tosh Micky! Signing half a dozen players on loan who turned out to be rubbish along with terrible league form is what tainted your reputation. :tosser:

I think him coming back damaged his reputation more than anything anybody could say.

Its always easier to blame your failing on others. Human nature.

erm

'Adams has achieved three promotions, all of them against a backdrop of adversity. Fulham were in danger of losing Craven Cottage when he took the helm; Brighton were making 150-mile round-trips to play home games at Gillingham'

DK let him down in every way

No he let himself down by being a dinosaur who had not moved on tactically since last managing us. His style of football will never win a thing at League 1 level these days. He never had a plan B either. The 9 man Walsall 0-1 showed up his shortcomings as a manager very early in the season.

I'm pleased he's doing well at Port Vale but he'll take them no further even if he does get them promoted.

Unsure why he can't see that he f***ed up when he was here last, did DK maybe FORCE him to sign so many old journeymen players with no ambition or passion?

How do you know DK DIDN'T force him?

How do you know DK DIDN'T force him?

And equally did DK force him to play Virgo in every position except goalie? Did he force MA to play Virgo in every game even when Virgo's form and confidence was shot to pieces? Did he force MA to play defenders in the middle and leave midfielders on the bench? Did he force MA to persist in tactics that clearly weren't working resulting in a record number of 3 and 4 goal defeats? Did he force MA not to make any substitutions until the 80th minute time and time and time again? Did he force MA to refer to dissenting fan voices as 'the enemy'?

Those were some of the reasons why MA got the boot. He had lost the plot and developed a bunker mentality. We were completely one-dimensional,

I am sorry but Micky Adams, will ALWAYS be an Albion legend for taking us from an obscure and struggling fourth tier side which in successive seasons almost went out of the league to two successive championships and ultimately to be the club we are today and hopfeully will be. The legacy of him and DK must never be forgotten... his mistake was to come back, just as Mullery did 20 odd years earlier .... it would never be the same ... never go back!
It is sad that he feels shafted .... but paradoxically let's not forget Dean Wilkins had been similarly shafted to make was for him!

Well no, but I was talking specifically about signings and 'moving on ' from the Wilkins era.

He always was a bit difficult to like IMO. The only time I met him, he was telling us how he COULDN'T STAND Clive Walker. When I asked him why, he said it was because Walker had suggested on Sky Sports News that non-league Aldershot v Brighton could be the location of an FA Cup r1 upset.

Yes, Adams hated him for that.

Ultimately, Adams is a paranoid character who hasn't moved on a decade ago, and his one trick has always been to be to fill his team up with players that he knows and trusts to do a decent job.
