Hopefully Georgi is only out for a few weeks and not the season (could well be the latter). Gruda and O'Riley were bought for this position so they need to step up. They really do. Welbeck and JP can occupy the front two positions but can't play every 90. Is Ferdi back in a few weeks? Hopefully Veltman and Weiffer are not far away either.

It can't be all doom and gloom. It's up to us.

Our appalling injury record continues , and all this without Europe. Imagine next season if we qualify for Europe - we shall down among the deadmen  . Perhaps better we don't qualify as League games on a Sunday is also a downer.

I had a look at Villas injury list. They have one player injured.

We potentially have ten:

Milner
Veltman
Ferdi
Lamptey
Igor
Steele
Webster
Rutter
Wieffer
March

Staggeringly seven of those missing could cover fullback. I fear this weekend may have done for us this season.

Yep, we have been cursed with injuries over the last 2 seasons. As you say, Villa only missing 1 and it has surprised me when working amongst their fans that they've moaned about their injuries when they had 3 or 4 out earlier in the season! What a luxury compared to ours over 2 seasons!

I said it before but I wonder if our club model is something to do with it. We rely on a mix of older players and youngsters both groups who traditionally struggle with injuries for different reasons. Wouldn’t change it but I wonder if that does increase the risks.

In football terms what age to you class as "older" and "youngsters" in your theory of increased risk related to age?

Please put numbers to this ....

TBH I'm surprised Webster lasted as long as he did before picking up another injury. I feel for the guy.

Wieffer is starting to get on my nerves, which I know is ridiculous as he's hardly getting injured on purpose!!!

Fabian must be pulling his hair out, how he's got us to 7th considering is incredible.

You're right Webster a month? At least until the summer given his weak glass legs.
Ha!

Georgi went over on his ankle I think. Those can be really painful but can be better in a few days or keep you out for months. We have no way of telling just by watching the TV replays.

As you say, Webster has twiglets for legs (which is such a shame as he has been in great form).

Georgi left in a boot, on crutches in an ambulance.

Would be nice if there was a way to fix those hamstrings.

...after the game.

Hard to read too much into it other than that he wasn't rushed to the hospital and wasn't carried off, so obviously nothing MAJOR major. Sure, it could still end his season as its not an awful lot left but I wouldn't assume it.

I'm not saying it isn't serious. And with our track record frecently, I'm sure it's near-terminal. But all of that could have been precautionary and he was just off for a scan. If it was obviously very bad, wouldn't he have gone straight away?

Has Hurzuler got a press conference before the Villa game this week? If so, he will probably reveal the extent of Georgi's injury...or it could be the classic Albion injury line 'minor injury that shouldn't keep him out for too long'
BTW: Anyone know when Milner is back?! 2026 season?!
