Again from the official msg board.

If you win you 'could' go top and if we win we 'could' go back to 2nd top so it should be a cracking game and hopefully you’ll have a decent following up here on Saturday (even though it’s a long way) ,

If you get here early enough for a drink why not try the Jacksons Wharf pub on the Marina , it's only a 7 min walk from the ground and there's a good football atmosphere in there, most clubs’ official sites recommend that you park here anyway. Coaches will probably have to drop you off at the ground but just walk past the club shop to the traffic lights, turn right down to the roundabout , go right again to the 1st pedestrian crossing and you’ll see the pub directly opposite you across the car parks , as I said it’s just a few minutes walk.

This season you can also buy the matchday programme from behind the bar (they’re usually delivered around 2.00pm).
Here's a bit about the Jacksons Wharf and how to get there.

If you head to the Marina there are a couple of pubs and loads of food outlets there. MacDonalds ,Burger King , KFC , Pizza Hut and an assortment of burger/sandwich bars and ice cream kiosks.
The JACKSONS WHARF is a very friendly pub right beside the water, where ALL AWAY fans are made to feel more than welcome, they have a football bar called the 'POOLS BAR’ which is well worth a look , lots of HUFC memorabilia, old programmes , scarves , shirts , photo's etc and as mentioned you can buy the matchday programme . If you're planning to call in there we also have scarves and bits and pieces from many other clubs (nothing from Brighton yet , hint , hint) so we are always looking for small items from other clubs (badges, car mini-strips , car scarf or pennants , etc ) to put up amongst all the other stuff so if you've got any small items they would be more than grateful . They serve decent pub food all day ( 12 - 9 ) and all your main courses are 2 for the price of 1. Kids are welcome and it's mostly families in the pub anyway. They have football music and videos on around the 'POOLS BAR’, which really builds a good pre-match atmosphere , and there is a pool table . Beware though if you're bringing women , there are lots of designer shops ( well the Designer Room , TKMaxx etc ) beside this pub. The ground is only 7mins walk from here and there's ample parking .
You can now also buy your matchday programme from inside the pub (from around 2.00pm) and they usually run a football card where you can win 25 quid in cash.
If you prefer a pub with some football atmosphere and some food then the JACKSONS WHARF is your best bet especially for away fans who like to mingle with the home fans (this is where I'll be from 11.30am, and you'll be made more than welcome, you can even put a couple of flags/banners up beside ours (temporarily like) as long they’re not offensive , you'll get some decent crack in there as well as a bit of atmosphere to get you in the mood for the match with the footie music and videos 'n' stuff ( starts about 1.30ish ), it’s easy to get to and easy to get to the ground from with loads of SAFE free parking ( CCTV AND police presence )beside the pub or anywhere on the Marina retail complex .
The Marina and Historic Quay is sign posted from the outskirts of Hartlepool as is the ground ( 7 min walk ) and you can’t miss this pub ,as you go past Asda on your left just go right the way round the next roundabout towards Blockbusters Videos and the Jacksons Landing/Designer Room shopping complex and you're there, they'll even tell you when to leave in time for the kick-off. (Opens at 11 , food from 12 )

A tip for you if you are parking down on the Marina , as you come up past the big Asda store don't be tempted to pull straight in there because they clamp on matchdays and there is loads and loads of free parking on the Marina , so carry on past Burger King and go right around the roundabout and park on the other side , either at the pub , museum or near MacDonalds , you'll be facing the right direction to get home and there's less queues to get out of the car parks .

If you want a quick peek inside the Pools Bar take a look at this site where you can have a look inside the PoolsBar on the internet (the pictures are from when we 1st opened it , there’s loads more stuff in there now but it gives you a feel for the place)

I hope you all have a great day whatever the result and wherever you go for a pint.

Pools Bar eh?

Similarly, why not recommend the Pool Bar in Brighton to away fans when they visit us? A real working man's type football friendly pub

:lolol:

Speaking of which, I was in the city centre after the Sheff Weds game and a big group of Wednesday lads walked past, obviously staying the night in town and making a weekend of it. They sounded like they'd had a few, and were pretty loud, brash and, well, Northern macho types. Looking for a place to continue their drinking, they strode manfully into the next bar along from their hotel, shouting drunken football chants as they went.

Imagine the looks on their faces when it dawned on them a few minutes later that Dr Brighton's wasn't quite the type of bar they'd originally had in mind.:safeway

They were getting a bit lairy and one of them spilt a pint on the floor. When two big, butch guys came out from behind the bar to clear up, one of the Yorkshire comedians wittily piped up in a highly audible northern accent:

"ey oop, don't bend over lads"

The silence which fell over the Dr Brightons was a joy to behold as all the drinkers turned round to view the source of this ill-advised comment.

The Wednesday fans decided to make a quiet but hasty exit from the pub before their reputations up north were ruined by rumours of a pasting from 20 gay guys in vests and crop tops.

LOL.

A couple of drinks will do me

I thought it was a decent thing to do. We have had some decent away fans on the official msg board.

Went to the bar you mentioned on my one and only visit to Hartlepool, it was as welcoming as you indicate and the food was pretty good too. On that occasion there were maybe 30-40 Brighton fans in the pub but not many locals.

The oddest thing that happened on that day was when I asked a steward where I could get a cuppa at half time, he told me to go down a passageway and through a door, imagine my surprise when I waltzed straight into their supporters club bar. The best thing was that nobody batted an eyelid, despite me sporting an Albion scarf, and the welcome couldn't have been friendlier. Mind you given our alleged reputation and the record of the local populace in their choice of MP it is just possible that Hartlepool is the Brighton of the north...

Love the story about the Wednesday fans, what a bunch of eejits. A Norwegian friend and his missus were asking me yesterday where they should go if they visited the UK for a holiday, as a temporary ambassador abroad for Brighton I had no hesitation in recommending the city by the sea, but advised them to visit with an open mind and assured them a warm welcome.

Good to see so many Brighton fans make the long journey all the way up here yesterday and it was good to see so many in the Jacksons Wharf pub , all very friendly .
I'd just like to say thanks for the gifts as well , a B&HA pennant from the 1st two lads to arrive was immediately hung above the TV behind the bar and will be moved to go alongside the other pennants at the end of the bar in due course , next I was handed a B&HA 'beach ball' (probably the most unusual item in the bar now) and this will be hung from the ceiling along with the scarf that someone else left , again thanks very much it all adds to the feeling of the bar which although primarily decorated with HUFC items is all the better with items from other clubs dotted about the place , cheers and good luck for the rest of the season.

Roz and I went for a meal at Jacksons Wharf with Superphil and Superwife after the game - an excellent decision, since we got the bonus of a two-main-courses-for-the-price-of-one deal.

There was an Albion beachball occupying pride of place in the little shrine to Hartlepool United at the end of the bar and a great welcome to go with it... as good as the friendly welcome I felt we all got at the ground.

Well worth the trip.

:)

I'm thinking of posting the Dr Brighton's story on one of the Wednesday boards, just to see if any of them admit they were in the group.

It was a beautiful moment.
