You're just fishing for Reading fans aren't you.

They said on 5 Live it was a sell out- there are always a few empty seats at this time of year because of season ticket holders on holiday etc.

OK, Reading aren't Man United, but I'm sure even they would have sold out their first ever game in the Premiership, so I recommend you keep it quiet before the Reading contributors come on here bleating about average attendances, stadiums, history, noise made by fans, etc, all the usual boring arguments.

A fine comeback. The only time I can remember the Albion doing that was against Millwall during the surgical mask game. 2-0 down at halftime, the Albion team turned round in the tunnel by Mullery and sent back onto the pitch to hang around during halftime. 3 goals in the 2nd half gave us the same 3-2 scoreline but in a division lower.

Well done Reading...bastards

Before you throw any stones Adrian, perhaps you ought to check out which football team in 1979 played their first game in the top flight against Arsenal, and had 4000 less than capacity at the game.

VAT fiddle? Or did that just start in the Stanley days, some of our crowd figures when published were dodgy to say the least when you saw how full the stadium was, whilst he was "saving" us, and then saw the club's figures for the crowds.

Fickle fans more like

1st game in the 1st Division against Arsenal would seem a funny time to become fickle don't you think?

I think a lot of fans thought the match was going to be a sell out and so could not be arsed queueing up.

It was a piss poor attendance given how good we were at the time

Having seen the highlights on MoTD, it definitely didn't seem to be a sell out as there were several areas of the ground with small blocks of (presumably) unsold seats.

It's Middlesbrough what the hell do you expect? I'm amazed that even 10k bothered to turn up for that fixture!

....and in the coming months they've got Watford, Fulham, Wigan, Bolton...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Division One is where it at I tell ya!

I think you will find because of the design of their ground Reading will never get full capacity for anything but pre-season friendlys.
The away has to be segregated from the home fans thereby losing some of the capacity due to seats being covered on plastic netting.

Put like that it makes you realise how glamourous the premier league is. Add to that the likes of Charlton, portsmouth and sheff utd and you've got yourself a league full of glitz and glamour well worth paying 40quid+ a time for...
