Imagine it is a few years ago, you are staying in a former East German city for a few days.

You and your brother decide to explore the city for old buildings that are a bit of a wreck, after seeing a few buildings, you drive around and suddenly see these grass-overgrown steps going up an embankment, you decide to explore. And what would be your reaction be like when you got to the steps you saw this.

No this place was much bigger than Withdean it could hold 100'000 specatators, it has been since redeveloped into a new stadium that can hold about 45,000 for the World Cup in 2006. But unlike the Goldstone this place stood after it closed for a few years abandoned, I think this place had not been used for a year.

Amazing place, glad it has finally been redeveloped.

Does a club team play there now ?

I think it is a local Leizpig team not Vfb Leizpig that play there. I know Vfb/ Locomotive Leizpig used to play there, they have sadly recently gone into liquidation.

I found it when I was a bit bored and decided to find out about the old Zentralstadion after finding it in the past stadium section on the Worldstadiums website. It amazed me it was the biggest stadium in Germany that could hold 100,000, so I found out more info and images via google.
