Sounds like my kind of place.. Are you referring to the franklin tavern there? That has been sort of my local last year, and will be my local in about two weeks.

on that topic, anyone drink in the martha gunn pub? apparently has a bit of a rep.. looks quite a treat though and has two tone/ska nights

Then I'm there, Barney. I live just round the corner from the Franklin but prefer the Constant Service or Park Crescent. I find the Franklin chocka full of Manc and Chelski fans.

The Martha Gunn is VERY similar to the Clifton in Worthing. I've not been in the Martha recently but seem to recall some very weird times in there.

The Park Crescent is a lovely chilled out pub. And doesn't have pretensions either.

PM me when you move this way and I'll buy you a beer.

And how about The bugle, a little gem hidden away off Lewes Road?

Anyway chaps, back on topic please...

INGB I think the Communards did the best version of that great classic "Don't leave me this way". The vid is class but you can see why so many guys got on the wrong bus with the state of the women back then, all looked like tramps.

That vid was so camp though, especially the 'baddie' who was bald, a big tache and dark, round , glasses. Scary? yeah right!

Great pub. Good call.

How about this one then:

I bought a mirror for my bedroom from Pussy opposite the Town Hall. It's pink (bright pink) and looks like a huge lipstick.

The Clifton in the late seventies and eighties was staunch Brighton. Maybe 50 odd getting the 2.16 over to Hove.
Some of the away trips were legendary though for obvious reasons I cannot name names mainly because some of the case files are still open.

Funnily enough the worst ever behaviour was probably in 82 following Worthing up to Oxford in the cup.
It was the first time at the tender age of 21 that I had ever seen anal rape of a young man.
Friends of Nigel Erskine may have heard the stories.

I used to drink Camp Coffee when i was young and quite enjoyed it.

Blimey Ken had forgotten about that. Six brothers all brought up on Camp coffee, but as far as I can tell we all got away with it :yahoo:

You were quite addicted to it, as i recall. It's still out there, maybe I'll try it one day.

INGB...I quite like Lola, by The Kinks.

I'm not gay but I've got this absolutely gorgeous broderie anglaise shirt, white with pink flowers that I bought from Jump the Gun. Goes a treat with my two-tonic suit for retro 60s nights.

With so much gayness about the City at this time of year, how about a little lighthearted look at how it affects us. nothing drastic, right/wrong or nasty (the mods are busy enough!) so, with no offence intended....

"I'm not Gay but I really think Man bags are a good idea, but i'd never use one.

i subscribe to the basic theory that people who talk alot about homosexuals generally are homosexual.

therefore as you brought this thread up for no reason it is probably fair to say...
