... This has taken me a fair while to write.

What I saw today was a bunch of players that were playing for their lives. They didn't give up and full credit to them.

We are not a league winning side. We will never be a fast flowing attacking side. What I saw today was 14 men giving their all and not admitting defeat. Over the past few seasons we would have withered when we went 2-1 down. But, we saw some guts and determination. I wish the byf's and spielbergs would get behind the team and give them some respect. We are going to find it hard to bounce back froms the odd defeat, we are going to struggle at then end of the seaon, simply because we rely on our youth teamers. BUt we deserve more than that.

I thoroughly enjoyed today. I feared the worst at 2-1, but the boys came out fighting. MOst of all, I am so proud to be an Albion fan. We are not a regular club. We rescued the club from the hands of the money men and we have been fighting ever since. I am sure that many a club would have folded by now, but we are extremely lucky to have such a loyal board and a hardcore 5,000 that prop us up.

I dearly love Brighton and if we can keep our heads above water and get behind the team, I think Wilkins can see us through to Falmer. Vulture et al, why not put your energy behind this young side and spur them on.

The Southend posse showed that it is possible to make some noise, as have others. Lets show the team that we love them and sing Millwall back to South London.

Ps We are soming up to the 10th anniversary of Albion in the Community. Read your programmes. A very good read and certaintly rubbishes the crap that septicman puts out.

Reality from a Brighton supporter?

Yes, this was a game of rugged intent, and heads-up resolve for the full 90 minutes.
MANY sides would have folded their cards at 1-2, and given up on the 3 points to a Southend side who had come to win the match.

I wouldn't count us out as a league winning side yet either - the season is yet young, and a couple of new lads didn't have any time to settle in yet.
The midfield situation has now been addressed, and options are better for Wilkins. Let's see if we can build on this too, hopefully with no major injury crisis, please.

Over the past few seasons we would have withered when we went 2-1 down.

Totally agree with that comment. That was the biggest positive of yesterdays performance for me. At 1-2 down, or even at 2-2, over the last couple of seasons it would have been Southend scoring threee, not us.
