Paul Trollope - part of the Chris Houghton staff at Norwich is a very good coach - he got Bristol Rovers established in top half of League One - was then sacked as they did not get to Wembley in the paint pot cup (fired day after they loft in semi final I think).

In the three or four years since then they must have been through about six managers and got relegated twice - case of not knowing how well off you were manager wise until a few years later

This might be a bit of a stretch, but how about Steve Coppell?

Low pressure/responsibility but still working in football full time; even if it was just for a year or two he could be a fantastic foil for the inexperienced Jones. A thinker to help a motivator. That way, Jones would have someone with vast experience and knowledge of the club - plus someone he knows well - as his assistant to help him overcome any hurdles the new man may encounter.

Who knows - it may even reinvigorate Coppell's passion for the game

Jones won't get THE job, this time.

But it would seem he's doing well in securing his position as assistant manger to the new 'gaffer'.
Something I doubt was a foregone conclusion a week ago.

Which basically means he'll be manager in less than 12 months time.
I think he will be appointed tomorrow, but then my info may be wrong.

Give it to Jones, time for the haters to realise he actually has something about him. He knows the club, the squad and yes he upset us fans a while back but he knows he did wrong and apologised years ago. Give it to him and bring the one who drinks pints of whiskey in as his number 2. This club needs some stability ffs.

The obvious option would be someone with experience like Curbishley.
NJ did state when he took over that he wanted Calderon to help out but decided he still had too much to offer ON the pitch (he was made captain).
However, NJ seems to work well with Rusk so would expect changes at a lower level to replace Rusk and Simon Ireland.
