This is true, but I don't see Cashin getting any bigger or any quicker. Someone suggested on his thread a shift to CDM. With his physique and passing maybe that's Cashin's redemption? Although probably not here given our glut of 6s.
I think the bigger issue is that the skillset is entirely different. You have to have 360 vision at 6 rather than facing the play for most of the game. There was a noticeable drop in quality without Baleba there last night… imagine if we’d stuck a slow, L1 CB into that position instead. He’d have not stood a chance.

And Igor Julio was roundly criticised after his debut against AEK Athens last season. Nobody was stronger in their criticism than @hans kraay fan club - players can turn around opinion from a terrible debut. Igor did.

That‘s fair, I expressed my first impressions of Igor quite strongly. He really was utterly dreadful in that game, mind.

I think @hans kraay fan club still share a lot of my views on Igor... namely that he is pretty bad.

Yep. If Igor has ‘turned around opinion’ in my case, it is from ‘he is absolutely terrible and should never play again’ to ‘he’s not great and should only play if everyone else is injured‘.

Igor's Instagram story suggesting - as far as I can tell - that he's fit again?
We saw him driving last week, if that helps. :lolol:
He didn't put his hand up to say thanks, as you do when someone pulls over to let you pass when he was puling into a driveway.. He got a sarcastic 'that's alright mate' from the person driving. As my son is learning to drive it's important to teach him road manners & sarcasm to other drivers who lack manners. As he went by my son & I realised who it was. We tried to ask the person who was driving to turn around and apologise just in case he lip read the sarcasm but he wouldn't. ;)
If it was Georginio he would've said thanks!
That's just a little anecdote for @Han Solo, no relevance or info to be had from it. :giggle:

Not upset if he goes.

He's been a great professional, but isn't going to be a starter for us.

We should be getting people who have a much higher ceiling, so even if they don't start games, we see that they could be in the future as they develop.

Think we can do better. I want the next JPvH that's coming through the ranks and needs game time.
This.

No genuine pace, no long passing game.

However, he does everything else pretty well and seems a great guy. Best of luck to him. I wonder if RDZ would be interested?

It's an odd one, I really like Igor as a player. He hasn't ever let us down despite limited playing time, but at 27 he needs game time. I suspect we'll get a decent fee for him. He's a Premier League defender with good pedigree and bang in prime career age.

He'll go with nothing but my best wishes

I don't mind if he goes. He's alright to fill in, and has had the odd bright moment, but I've never really seen him as the future. Too many mistakes.

Agree. Does a good job when required and a steady Premier league performer rather than a stand out performer

If we get our money back, we would have done well.
As others have said, he is ok to have around as back up, but he is 27 and he won’t really want to do that.
Plus he cost £15m and no doubt on a decent wage, so makes sense to sell now.
