If you do the trains via Nottingham there are no problems on that route and its cheap, £12 each from London to Nottingham.

Just remember to book it. The only problem is in the morning you miss the connection by about 10 minutes, still it means time for some brekkie and you can still make Lincoln for opening time.

About 50 minutes and in the evening you get about an hour for a few beers in Notts and there are far worse places to go and have a drink.
