Oatway is an integral part of this club's successes and team spirit. When his playing days are over I hope the club finds a job for him close to the players-he loves BHAFC and what he lacks in ability he more than makes up for with effort and work.

Charlie is a legend and more important to this club than people give him credit for...he is the backbone of the team spirit that prevails at the Albion-more so than DC and a couple of others.

FFS. Why can't people just leave him alone? Sorry Andy Roberts??! No, I really rather would have Charlie Oatway.

ok not andy roberts then

but there are better players than him on frees
he is below poor really he is

You might be able to pick up more talented and skillful players on a free. But you might not be able to pick up a player that is as committed and as determined as Oatway is. I guess what I am saying is, that yer I agree with you he ain't the greatest player I have ever seen but he'll fight til the death to see the Albion stay up where another player might just give up. Look at Zamora in the closing stages of the season before last, he didn't want to be here, he couldn't be arsed quite frankly. It might the spirit of a player such as Oatway that might keep us up, galvinising the other players, keeping them together, making them believe. You probably think I am talking crap now.

Thank you, Turkey, for the alternative thread link... I was just thinking that it is NOT a great idea to start a thread that prompts others to slag off (and later defend) our players...

For example, Charlie is here to stay, like it or not... he has just signed a new contract... what is the point of laying into him?...

I am not his greatest fan, but recognise that he does have strengths that others don't... if MM carries out his intention of strengthening our midfield, then either he may become a squad player, or maybe he will contribute bite in a midfield that includes more talented / creative players...

Trying to be positive...:)
