Would we boo him when subbed on to play his final home game for us?

Thought some of the Liverpool support let themselves down today.
My mate Bob was surprised.
Then (aftertiming) not surprised.....
Is this entitlement and classless one-eyed wankerdom,
or perfectly reasonable 'with us or against us' winner mentality?
I feel it is the former.
Poor show. Liverpool now on a par with Chelsea....maybe.

No, I hope not.

If Lewis Dunk left, you’d surely say “thank you” and “good luck”.
(I was pretty pissed off though re the Fulham thing when he allegedly refused to play). Now would be different though.

Though for me there are conditions to how I feel about a departing player.

I don’t like players refusing to train to force a move or flagrantly touting themselves or bad mouthing us….

Alexis handled it all beautifully, even BDB to a lesser extent.

If we had a player run down his contract so we didn't get a fee for him and left him for a bigger club, I guarantee he would get booed.
This is exactly it.

It’s not that he’s leaving. It’s that he repaid years of support and encouragement by running down his contract.

Alexander Arnold is entitled to do what he wants with his own career, but he does so knowing that leaving on a free to the richest club in the world will taint his Liverpool legacy with a chunk of their fans.

Had he had 3 years on his contract, his transfer fee would likely have been close to £100m. I can definitely see why a lot of Liverpool fans are pissed off with him. (Although personally I wouldn’t boo)

They could have sold in January but didn’t
Arrogant enough to think he’d sign a new contract if they didn’t sell him? After all they are the mighty Liverpool

Something has gone on behind the scenes I’d think, and he dug his heels in? This has been running for ages hasn’t it?

The alternative would have been to put in a transfer request 12-18 months ago.
What fee did we get for Gross?

I'm not surprised at your attitude by the way,
given your apparent membership of the New Normal contingent.

Frankly, they should be booing their club's administrators for allowing all of VVD, Salah and TAA run down their contracts to nothing at exaxtly the same time.

They're bloody fortunate to have held onto two of the three.

Why didn't Liverpool press him to sign a year ago?
They bagged Salah and Virtual (OK, recently).
Maybe they figured he isn't worth what he wants.
A mutual decision, then.
No need for (some) supporters to get titsy.

While this is true you (and I) have no idea what the player or agent were asking for.

That TAA is the only one not to extend suggests that either he was asking for an unrealistic contract, in which case they’re right not to give in, or he really wanted to leave, in which case he should have mini extended like Ali Mac did with us.
