IF we get promoted, what transfer budget will Bloom give Poyet for the Championship?

I am not particularly worried how much the transfer budget is as I am sure that Bloom will not want us to struggle as in previous seasons in The Championship so will give Gus a realistic budget and transfer kitty to ensure this dont happen.

I think the danger time for us as regards Gus is around Christmas before transfer window with chairmen in the Prem getting worried but hopefully he will do well and want to take us into the prem if not next season the season after.

I'm very confident he'll stay if we go up. How many young managers get the opportunity to take an ambitious club on the rise into a new stadium? Bloom hasn't spent 100 million quid to have a half filled stadium so will give Gus enough money to make sure that doesn't happen. IF we go up, the "danger" time for Gus leaving will be around November/December time, if we 're doing well in the Championship and a Premiership or other big club isn't.
It will never be a half filled stadium no matter how shite we are:drink:

Definately going to need a striker as, in my opinion, Glen Murray will not be with us next year. shame

Why the hell would you want a centre half? The best part of our team is our centre backs. Get a grip man.

Yes but its all about strength in depth. If Greer or El-Abd got injured I don't personally think Dunk or Elphick are Championship quality so IMHO a centre back is required.

It would be depending on the extent of the injury or length of suspension as either Elphick or Dunk could step in for perhaps 1 or 2 games with no problem but if was a lengthy injury like 6 weeks we would need to bring somebody in on loan I would think.

Those who could play in the Championship;
Brezovan
Ankergren

Calderon
Greer
Painter

Bennett
Dicker
Sparrow
Noone
Bridcutt

Murray
Barnes

Probably need
1 Goalkeeper
both Fullbacks (probably cover)
2 Centre backs
1 winger (hopefully Lualua)
1 central midfielder
2 strckers to compete for places

from his season so far El-Abd should be in

Well Poyet obviously thinks very highly of Dunk as he's just had his contract extened!

Assuming Murray stays, think we will need a decent championship striker as I'm not sure Barnes is ready to step up yet, and that will be where the bulk of the budget will go. If Murray goes, we need two forwards. We also need some pace in central midfield areas, unless EB plays that role more regularly.

As someone has already said, I can't see Bloom wanting us flirting with relegation, his ambitions are at the other end of the table, and in realily if we are to finish in the top half of the championship, the squad will need a major overhaul. Many of the current squad are good enough to survive in the championship, but that's not what Bloon has in mind, so there will be significant changes I suspect.

Everybody keeps on about Dunk but he has only had his contract extended by 1 year and at his age is that good enough taking into account how long he has left possiblky as a pro footballer. Could Gus still be not certain he will make it.

an experienced, wise old head to sit in front of the defence. I remember Gary McAllister at the end of his career at Coventry. He barely moved but was still so good he just broke up the opposition's play and then quickly passed the ball, turning defence into immediate attack. Someone like that would fit in nicely.

spot on

Bloom would need to spend 4-5 million on our squad. Players don't come cheap these days and i think we need prob 5 championship experienced players. Like someone said we are winning at the moment so everyone looks good but not sure the likes of dicker and sparrow are going to be good championship players. Someone like Mackell Smith is going to cost at least a million and IMO we need prob 3 players of that calibre.

Transfer fees mean very little. The real question is how much is Gus Given for wages. And that, is a question we will never have answered - quite rightly.

At the SOL meeting a couple of months ago I'm pretty sure Gus said that if we went up then the budget would be double what it was this season. No idea how much that is though.

2 mil about right but alot to go on wages so doubt we'd spend that.

For me a quality centre back and then a free agent experienced striker. Plus LuaLua ;)

Depending on contracts and promotion etc the biggest miss we will have next session is that wise old head of Kish, when fit and playing he is a class above this league and the champ. If and when he goes our main aim should be to replace with another Gus surprise experienced player.

IMO (IF we were to go up - we're not there yet!) we aren't strong in depth down the flanks, and we're a little short upfront. We could do with 1 other player to cover at CB too (Dunk looks good but needs game time - might go out on loan?), and a 'can-play-across-the-park' midfielder could be useful competition, but 2 full backs, another winger and at least 1 striker is the absolute priority.

GK - Ankergren/Brezovan/Walker
FB - Calderon/Painter/full back 1/full back 2
CB - Greer/El-Abd/Elphick/centre back/Dunk
DM - Navarro/Bridcutt
AM - Sparrow/Dicker/backup midfielder
WG - Bennett/Noone/winger
ST - Murray/Barnes/quick striker/strong striker
