And where do you think he will stengthen?

I reckon 2 million and we will be looking for left back cover, possibly right back cover, a centre half, attacking midfielder and a striker.

Bollox to this type of question, let's just get promoted first.

We'e watching a winning team at the moment, so the whole team looks pretty good. Gus will know better than us though, which of the players are playing out of their skins to perform at this level, and which ones have the ability to function at a higher level. I think all our team are prbably good enough to be in a Championship SQUAD - so I hope Gus brings in a few players who are actually better than what we have at the moment - no use getting in cover for this or cover for that; our existing players will need to be the cover......

Wouldn't be that optimistic. I would say 50-60% of the squad is good enough. Definitely need to strengthen with 5 players IMO

yeah, the 50% that is the current first team. we already look a little thin squad wise, so we will definately have to strengthen allround (except maybe midfield) if/when we go up.

Last time we got promoted to the Championship we were heavily reliant on the youth squad graduates to see us through. They did themselves and us proud but it was never going to be enough. This time around, were we to be promoted, we would be in a massively-improved position. Assuming we can retain most of the first team regulars, then it would be all about in depth squad strengthening. There's no real need for a Special One, and the leap in class to the Championship isn't all that. IMHO, like.

A balanced and accurate assessment Tom

Those who could play in the Championship;
Brezovan
Ankergren

Calderon
Greer
Painter

Bennett
Dicker
Sparrow
Noone
Bridcutt

Murray
Barnes

Probably need
1 Goalkeeper
both Fullbacks (probably cover)
2 Centre backs
1 winger (hopefully Lualua)
1 central midfielder
2 strckers to compete for places

i have a feeling that if we get promoted and pboro dont that craig mackail smith will be wearing the stripes next season

It would surely be a massive relief to the boy to be playing in a side that doesn't ship goals at one end as fast as he can score them at the other end

Maybe he could bring George Boyd with him as well. There's another very smart player wasted with those Peterboro clowns who will probably end the season with something like a goal difference of +2, having scored 100 goals and conceded 98. Total and utter wankers.

Very premature this thread but what the hell. I think a new goalkeeper and a pacey, proven goalscorer are essential as is full-back cover/competition for places. I'm not sure we need central defenders but let's see what happens with Elphick. Lua Lua would clearly be a fantastic signing and I'd go also for an experienced, wise old head to sit in front of the defence. I remember Gary McAllister at the end of his career at Coventry. He barely moved but was still so good he just broke up the opposition's play and then quickly passed the ball, turning defence into immediate attack. Someone like that would fit in nicely.

If we get promoted we might struggle to hold on to Gus in the managerial merry go round before next season kick off, I imagine TB would give him whatever he wants tbh.

Would be happy with:

Lua Lua
Mackail-Smith
Jon Harley
Centre half on loan from Prem
Attacking midfielder on loan from Prem

I'm very confident he'll stay if we go up. How many young managers get the opportunity to take an ambitious club on the rise into a new stadium? Bloom hasn't spent 100 million quid to have a half filled stadium so will give Gus enough money to make sure that doesn't happen. IF we go up, the "danger" time for Gus leaving will be around November/December time, if we 're doing well in the Championship and a Premiership or other big club isn't.
