I'd probably drift nomadicaly from team to team, first it would have been Chester, then Eastbourne Borough, then who knows? It would never have been the same though, and in my heart I would always be stood on the North Stand...

I'd've turned my shirt sideways and supported QPR:p

Nah - Probably supported a reformed Albion in non-league and come over all smug the year we stormed the conference to get back into the league.

OK, so in 1997 we didn't escape relegation and actually folded. What would you do, I say, what would you do. I know from experience that if I can't get to the Albion I try to watch a game wherever I am. But would people have supported new teams? Gone non-league? Turned their backs on football?

For the record, I would have probably latched onto Eastbourne Borough/Langney Sports success.

And you?

(it is taken as read that evryone would kill Archer and Bellotti.)

This is a shitty thread. Its all if's and but's!! We arn't so whats the point in this thread ?

Interestingly this has been done before and this time because there were some vague early answers everyone followed that lead and steered clear of mentioning a league club.

We all had this conversation at the time and i reluctantly opted for Fulham as i had always liked my visits to the ground with the Albion. Strangely they dont even have their own ground at present. We had also considered Charlton and Brentford but honestly speaking thank feck we didnt have to resort to watching others and i know in my heart that the same feeling would never have been generated.

Two reasons Farang.

1) It makes us realise how far we've come and just take a step back. Those three defeats in a week could never compare with the days we had to suffer six or seven years ago.

2) Of course it didn't happen, but I get the feeling that at times we were bloody close and I suspect a lot of people had made a contingencey plan just in case - it's natural to. So I wanted to see what that plan was, and as I suspected, a lot of people would have just gone through the motions before stepping back a bit from football, which is sad, especially when you consider how much fun the last four years have been.

I forced myself not to think about it unless it happened, and it didn't - so I haven't!

Agree with Albion Rob. It's good to have a reminder occasionally how close we came to the abyss. Makes me go cold thinking about it.

Am sure that I would not have just attached myself to another club... e.g. now I live in Bristol I don't actually go to see City or Rovers, simply cos my passion isn't with those clubs.

I think identifying with a place is alot to do with the club (or clubs) we support and Sussex is really the only place I currently identify myself with.

BUT I don't understand people talking about turning their back on the sport!!!! Are you only interested in football played by Brighton?

As Soton Seagull said, England and the armchair would have been my option.
