If our ground ever gets built, how should we name it?

Just looking at the BBC site and Arsenal are expected to name their new ground the Emirates Stadium after Emirates Airlines who are meant to become their new sponsors.

So if Falmer finally happens how should we name our ground?

Personally I would hate to have it named after a corporate sponsor like that because in a few years time they're bound to change and then ur stuck with the stadium name. Im sure we could accomodate Skint somehow and at least they are quite a cool sponsor to be associated with.

The other route is to follow Readings lead and name it after the chairman but thats a bit too self indulgent for my liking too. Im all for having the main stand named after DK for the amount of work hes put in, but not the whole stadium.

Some clubs have about 4 options and then let the fans decide which seems to be the best way about it.

So what names should be proposed? The New Goldstone, or just leave it as Falmer?

Think this question was asked in the Ask the Club forum and the club have said that they would look for a sponser to ofset some of the cost of building the ground.

There is absoloutely no way that Falmer will escape being named by some sort of corporation.. we're relying on sponsorship to get the thing built if it goes ahead. With this in mind I think we can accept anything like...

Tesco Stadium
Chupa Chups Stadium
Campball's Meatballs of Light Stadium

And if we're lucky...

Skint Stadium
Falmer for All Stadium
Stadium of Knight

The arsenal deal with Emirates is for 15 years and incorporates a 7 year kit sponsorship deal as well. If a firm is ready to pay enough to sponsor the stadium for life then so be it. Lets hope we get a good deal. Although this would likely be some shoddy corporate name their is nothing to say that the stands can not be called the Goldstone end etc

Fans will always I think know it as Falmer whatever its name actually is. It would have been different if we had it 6 years ago, but Falmer is now more and more well known around the country it almost a brand name.

Maybe the clothing company should seek imvolvement?

The <sponsor> Goldstone Ground

ie;.....
The Sony Goldstone Ground
The Nike Goldstone Ground

Then if the sponsors change, only the prefix will change, leaving at least one constant as a maintenance of the grounds identity.
