If we were without a manager then, yes, I would have MA back but I think McGhee is doing a great job.

I hope he stays longer than the end of his contract. In fact, I shall be relieved to get through October without a change of manager for the first time in 4 years.

McGhee seems to be doing a great job with the players and finances available. Why would we want to change????

Exactly. I am worried that any club looking for a manager (except Reading, Leicester and Wolves) are likely to think that they can offer him a better deal and a ground, and almost certainly could.

Given the job he has done here he has got to be a target sooner rather than later. The fact that he has a reputation for introducing youngsters is a massive boost for us when you look at our youth set up and his success so far. Knight will find it hard to replace this manager for that reason. Coppell and Adams had a core of players that followed them from club to club and it worked for us at the time. It now appears that we can't afford anybody so if McGhee goes and someone else comes in who likes working with their own players, we and the youngsters are stuffed.

If teams come knocking again I hope Knight tells them to bugger off and doesn't even consider the size of the compensation which seems to stop him trying too hard to hang onto them, when managers want to leave. We really need to hold onto McGhee as I think losing him would be far worse long term than the other three (excellent) managers who have walked. We have a real chance of consolidating in this division for the next few years until Falmer, with McGhee in charge
