If Battipiedi isn't good enough for league one how was he going to compete today?

Ankergren wouldn't have dealt any better with the onslaught than Brezovan did. If anyone was going to be able to cope, it should have been our 6'7 giant.
Sandaza is woeful, how you can suggest he should have started in place of Wood, Barnes or Murray in our "strongest team" is beyond me.
Adam El-Abd wouldn't have been able to deal with Carew in the air, Elphick will always be better able to combat that threat.

A bit of rotation doesn't do anyone any harm, either. We need Ankergren and El-Abd to be at their best for the rest of the season now, and any chance to give them a break is welcomed by me. Sandaza has a role to play coming off the bench when we're chasing a goal, but I don't see he gives us anything at all when we're in a good position in a game. Battipiedi had a chance because of the injuries, no other reason. He wouldn't have played had all been well, it is unfair criticism of him in this thread.

I would like to jump on board with the previous two comments from Mr Turkey and Mr Acker.

Sadly, I think circumstances will conspire against them both and we will see them released at the end of the season.

Hmm, I'd rather we kept Acker, tbh, as some of his stats are quite useful. Turkey can go though - never going to make it, I'm afraid :nono:

He looked lost against a premiership midfield, so did a lot of our players for the first 30 mins. To write him off after that is very harsh, Poyet sees something there and don't get why some on here are desperate to write off our players. It's very strange. Granted he has not been a world beater so far but both him and Baz have shown moments that there is a player there and its for Poyet to get that out regularly.

Surely the point is that Poyet has decided Bati's not up to it so that's why he only gets a look in when there are no other alternatives. That would tend to suggest he has already made up his mind about him!

Some posts have mentioned his lack of reserve team opportunites and I do think that's something to look at in the future. The reserve league we are in is woefully weak, and there are only a handfull of games. I don't understand how the Central Division of the Football Combination works as Reading, Palace, QPR, Saints & Millwall are all in it, be we only get to play Aldershot, Gills, Lewes, Wycombe, Crawley and Brentford for some reason.
