Which is why I can say now that I am a fan.

I used to be a fan years ago before I married, then when people asked which football team I liked I would always answer Brighton (because I saw occasional games and always watched out for their results on tv etc) but I wouldn't have called myself a fan, at that point in my life.

I have friends who go to the occasional games and watch out for the results hoping we win. They are fans in my book.

The short of this is that if we get snobbish about things like this it will deter these people who would most likely start coming more often when we get falmer.

I am not having a go at you. If anything tonight I have been using you as an example of how people should be, i.e. not getting snobbish etc. I am sorry if it seems like I am.

All I am saying is that if people choose not to go to Withdean, it is up to them and does not make them any less of a fan. They could say that they travel the length of the country supporting Brighton at away games and spend far more money in doing so. Ok, the money does not go to Brighton but it is still a significant financial outlay all in the name of watching the club they love.

I dont think anyone is a better fan then anyone else. People just choose, or are able to choose, different ways of manifesting that love.
