Was thinking about what the club could do to maximise the sale of season tickets, especially at Falmer. I come up with the following idea let me know what you think.

Those that have a season ticket next season get offered a 10% discount on the first year at Falmer if they either purchase a 2nd season ticket themselves (for a child or other family member) or get a friend to buy 1. Said friend also gets a discount say 5%. Would have to make sure that the new season ticket holder was new but I think it could work.

I know that those people with no friends or children that have been going for years will moan but you cannot please all the people all the time.

I'm hoping they do an offer a'la Bradford / Huddersfield where if we get 10,000 then we pay something like £150/200 for one, then hopefully people will get hooked and come back.

I got another idea, why not let us start paying now, say 25 quid a month, that could get a few people who don't normally get a season ticket due to cost interested.

(yes I am aware you can put 25 quid in the bank for the next 2 years, but life ain't like that)

The main problems with that idea is that firstly you need someone to administer it. Secondly people will want to know what the price is.

I also agree with its_neil's idea of making the price reasonable in the first place.

I like this idea, playing to 20,000 crowds every week would get the place up and running like nothing else. I can't see the money men being that forward thinking though, especially after paying so much money for the place. The thinking will probably be that the stadium will be popular/full initially anyway so no need to induce the crowds back with pricing incentives (at least to begin with).

IMO the best way to improve attendance for the future would be to play attractive attacking football.

Failing that I do think that offering families free kids season tickets ie just pay for the adults is the way forward. We all got hooked going as youngsters and thats the way to catch em.

£10 off a season ticket at Falmer for every year you have had a season ticket at Withdean.

Simples.

How is that going to encourage new people to go?

The "Get X thousand people and the price comes down to a couple of £100" model has been done before - imagine how hard people would be lobbying friends and lapsed fans to try to nudge the total past X thou.

Could work and as you say, would then give the Albion the chance to lock in lapsed fans and families. I think we've missed a generation of supporters at Withdean (look at photos of our crowds - defo older than some). Getting families involved will be critical at Falmer - to get the numbers up and to start to build a solid future fan base.

TRHK Jnr has already asked me where our season tickets will be - and I haven't been a STH for a few years now.

TBH that first post is pretty crap, a 10% discount if you buy 2 tickets? Thats pretty pathetic but at the same time the sort of halfassed crap i'd expect, applications for tickets for the first game need to be handed out free and the tickets should be damn cheap, season tickets - about a 30% price cut if you have owned one within the last 3 seasons

I don't see why they'd give discounts to existing ticket holders, they're the ones that are guaranteed to renew...

It's not, but the prospect of a first class stadium will attract fans who either didn't visit Withdean, or those fans who got sick of it.

The idea of a reduced price for season tickets depending on number sold does appeal but the club have to be careful they don't shoot themselves in the foot. It would be nice to have cheaper prices but what we all want is championship football and then moving up from there. You are not going to acheive that by reducing the prices significantly.

For example, say there was a sliding scale of £420 for 5,000 tickets sold (£2,1m) , over 7,500 then the price reduces to £380 (£2.85m), over 10,000 then the price reduces to £340 (£3.4m)and then over 15,000 the price is £300 (£4.5m). If the club only sold 4k of season tickets but attracted another 11k through the gate the income would be (4,000*£420 = £1.68m) + (11,000 * 23 * £25 = £6.325m) = £8.005m.

At the end of the day, we will ony get 15,000 sth's to renew at the end of the first season if we are playing good football and winning more than loosing. Alternatively, we would only get an extra 11000 through the turnstile for each game if we are winning and playing well. Either way, we have to spend cleverly on the squad and have a good manager.

No but might encouarge some more season tickets for our last withgdean season when we would look to be pushing for promotion, and the extra thousand could count
