Danny Baker has just said that the Abbey Road album was originally going to be called Everest as the Beatles suggested having a picture of them stood near the summit of Mount Everest.
The matter was forgotten about and then several months later one of the record company visited them in the studios towards the end of the recording sessions and said that they have to get round to organising the trip for the photo shoot.
Paul McCartney said why don’t which just go outside and as a consequence the Everest album became the Abbey Road album and the zebra crossing has become a shrine ever since and one of the most iconic album covers was created and quite possibly the most copied cover ever from the sheer number of people that have had their photos taken across the crossing.
Don’t know if there’s any truth in it but I liked the story and thought I would share it.
17 degrees today and warmer tomorrow for the home match with Lorient.
