If it is too expensive, that may well rule out the possibility of locating there, as the cost of the project was one of the queries Prescott is looking at having answered in the upcoming Public Inqiuiry.

Of course, the lack of public transport access also makes it a no-no, despite what that nutter said in today's Arsegas.

I asked Norman about this when he mentioned Sheepcote Valley.

Apparently you can build on landfill but it is very expensive because the gas has to be dealt with first. I cannot remember the exact details of what he said but he did say that it could be done.

The methane needs to be flamed. It can take TEN YEARS to do that. Can you imagine being at the Withdean in 2014 and seeing the stadium just starting then?

If you don't flame it all off, it will explode and you get a somewhat destroyed stadium.

I don't mean to be rude - but, erm, how do you know - about the 10 years bit, I mean? I suppose it's great for the Albion's case if it's true - but is it true?

Because the planning permission for the apartment buildings on Dunsink Dump don't come in until 2006 and it closed in 1992, and has been flamed since 1996.

Irish rules and regs, UK may be but probably isn't more lax over it.

Oh, and I presume somebody here remembers the block of flats up in Scotland that collapsed around twenty or thirty years after the dump was closed?

And I should upload the photo of the biiig hole on my towns golf course (built on a dump) blown by methane FIFTY years after it was closed (it had never been flamed though)

Also the Sainsburys in Chichester that burnt down in the mid 90's as it was on top of an old Sixties tip.

The only time I met Baker was with my boss for the Lewes V Albion game, August 2003. We bumped into him, he was wearing a creased pair of trousers and a filthy t shirt which looked like he had picked it up from the toilet floor that morning. He looked like a tramp.

My boss shook his hand but I wandered off, not wishing to meet him and would have refused to shake his hand.
