I must say that for once, Southern Railway excelled themselves. I left work on Thursday without knowing whether I would ever get home, or would have to make alternative arrangements, but the train back to East Grinstead was only 10 minutes late. The guard apologised, but if I had been able to talk to her, I would have told her that I was grateful just to get home. The staff should take the plaudits.

To be fair Southern do a pretty fair job all round as far as I'm concerned. Compared with the shambles that was Connex, our railways are magnificent now.

Having said that it usually runs & I agree Southern should be comended for their service on Thursday.

I thought the railways were superb on Thursday. Credit where it's due. They played a major part in restoring life to some semblence of normality, despite being under the severest of pressure themselves. Very well done to all involved.
