I have spent the last 3 years inventing Moon FC and the underlying trading card engine and am hoping to get the good folk of NSC interested in it!

Very briefly – the trading card engine can supply digital content to a complexity that has not been done before and I’d like anyone who is interested to have a look. And if you like the look and feel and are tempted to play then it would be much appreciated.

In fact... If you could Like Moon FC on Facebook or (as Bozza has kindly done) follow us on Twitter then that too would be greatly appreciated.

There are lots of interesting things on the horizon with the trading card engine itself, but in the meantime I need all the help I can get when it comes to Moon FC!

Thanks for reading this.

About to dash out but will get back on later and will pick up any questions anyone might have then. Please have a dig around the site... although I appreciate trading cards may not be top of everyones agenda! Any help to spread the word from those it does interest will be much appreciated.

One thing I can say is that I have met Mr Bloom himself to demo this and can say he is a very approachable and down to earth guy.

I think we have a mutual friend, a mr John K. He showed me a few of the tactile trading cards and the style and game play were very good. The very best of luck with it as he told me how much work you've put into it.

Tell us more ??

Few things that might interest.

Traditional trading card companies like panini print 1 billion packs a year. That's a lot of tree and landfill! I was hoping to take a fraction of that market and possibly save a tree or two along the way. It has proved difficult in the past (I discovered) to invent a trading engine for Intellectual property. I think I have cracked it (along with a small army of developers) and have created something that can not only allow global trading on a one for many scale but is also (amongst many other things) aware of your location and can (for instance) tailor the billboard adverts you see in the background of cards depending on where you are in the world. Trade a card with another country and most likely the billboard will change languages in the background. A lot more functions under the bonnet that I can’t yet talk about as well.

And if that doesn't interest you then hopefully the prize of £2,000 worth of hospitality at a football match of your choice anywhere in the world will!

And finally - any 442 readers amongst you. Moon FC has a full page (105) in the June issue. Horahh.

Yep. Mr K has been kindly testing for me over the last few months as part of a group of 80. I believe he has become somewhat addicted!

Good luck with your website mate but as it stands I can't see it taking off for one reason - when it comes to browser based games, people only will play it if it's free

In my experience the only online browser based games that are successful are the ones that you do not need to pay for. I emphasise the word need because some successful browser based games offer rewards for subscribing, but these rewards are not essential for success in the game, they are just favourable for the dedicated players.

If you hope to make money from this, I genuinely suggest you make it a free game with optional subscription, or use advertising to generate revenue
(Possibly)This - I see you can join for free as a 'non-seated member' and get one free card - how much are you thinking of charging for a pack of how many cards? Also, the website design/layout looks kind of geared to late teens but the content seems to be more 'tweenie' - sorry, that's not meant as an insult :) but just, for example looking at what you get for buying the £9.95 package.

Hiya, not really my thing to be honest, but the website looks decent and I wish you all the very best. However I am a bit of a sheep, so will happily become a Moon FC JCL if theres lots of take up.

I have to agree with this but I guess its all down to who your aiming it at and what your also aiming to get out of it in the long run.

The only comment I would make is not to have a contact form - put contact details instead. I dunno about other people, but if I cannot see a phone number/address/email address/persons name, I assume that the company does not want to be contacted or have something to hide. I would say that this is particularly important if people are parting with cash.

Site looks interesting and will grab the attention of those interested I am sure (does not float my boat, but i am sure it will others). Good luck with it!

You raise a fair point about a lot of successful browser games being free and indeed a lot of people never expect to pay for anything and are happy to put up with advertising led gaming. I have conducted 18 months of tests using 43 different groups of all ages and all walks of life and from what I have found from children as young as 8 up to a test group I had of pensioners is that a lot of people are getting fed up with adverts invading their experience. Especially among the young whose parents do not want their children bombarded with things they cant control. I can control my advertising and will not let it lead the way the game is developed or played. Maybe that will be my failing but I hope not.

Since go live a couple of days ago an awful lot of people have come on board and the current average spend is very encouraging so if that continues like that then I will be a very happy man. Time will tell. If it doesn't then so be it. I don't want to bombard people with ads but I do want them to enjoy the experience of trading like they have never been able to do before.

Moon FC is one small part of what I am doing with this engine, but even so I still hope (and early signs are very encouraging) that it stands on its own two feet and flourishes.

Thanks for taking time to look around the site and I appreciate you taking the time to feedback your thoughts.

50p a pack for 10 cards.

No insult taken. I have had feedback from a wide demographic before launching. The £9.95 pack will not be made availble for a while and it is actually aimed at a younger market.

As an aside It features a programme that contains a page on BHA - The content of which have been approved by them and the photos suplied by them. The program was also printed by their printers so maybe the picture where you saw the pack didnt do it justice (possibly as it is greyed out).

Why not join and buy a few packs and see what you think?

Thanks - I agree lack of contact number at least can be off putting. If you buy via the site though it is either via Paypal or Mobile and both of those have contact details - including a contact number with the mobile route.

The problem I have is that once an advert goes out then I get slammed with comanies trying to sell me advertising space. Yesterday I had a full page ad appear in 442. Within a very short space of time my mail box filled up with offers from magazines and football clubs across europe. Not sure my phone would have stopped ringing if they could have found my number!

As a 15 year old myself, I wouldn't pay for packs on something where you don't get anything out of it, for instance, on FIFA, you pay for a pack and you're getting a player to play with, and I can't see it being too popular as parents won't pay for it either. Just advice and as others have said, you should probably make it free using adverts.

A few questions if I may.

If the cards were recognisable - say England players - would you buy and trade those?
Do you collect physical trading cards?
What do you mean play? as part of a team in on online FIFA game or as part of a trading game?

All interesting comments and thanks for them. I have only revealed a small part of what's coming btw...

I'm not sure about your first question, I personally wouldn't, I think this game appeals to 6-12 year olds, I don't collect physical trading cards but I used to when I was younger, and I mean an online FIFA game, perhaps like an engine to simulate match results so they can play against friends?

OK, let's try an experiment.

If you've joined Moon FC then PM me on here with details of your joining email address and i'll add a few duplicates to your single card to kick you off and allow you to trade. That way you can get a feel for the trading and see what you think. You might want to put some in the Swap Pool and bid with the others. Please PM me again with your thoughts on the experience. I have done similar in testing but am very interested in knowing what the reaction is now the site is live.

Same offer applies if you have also bought cards.

Offer stands until next sunday and cards will appear within 48 hours. You'll get an email telling you they have arrived.

We have been playing with this idea as part of a promotion through another magazine so this is your opportunity to help drive development! Also playing with the idea of linking free duplicates or Swap Credits to liking on Facebook or following on Twitter. What are your thoughts on that?
