My favourite bit was Southgate talking about Kallstrom, ''I didn't know he was tall, I thought he would be more stocky then that.'

Well researched GIMPO. Good luck in the management game.

Tyldsley is OK. Certainly not one of the worst. Southgate, though, has got me running down the bookies to back Middlesborough to go down, he really is a bit clueless.

BBC though? Motson's commentary's so far have bordered on the senile, Lawrenson adds as much insight as next door neighbours cat (and his pronunciation winds me up at the mowwwment), Wrighty say no more and as for Leonardo - He cant articulate in a foreigh lauguage what he wants to say and ends up saying not much at all.

If I was Andy Gray I'd be asking for a pay rise. That's how a proper expert summariser should be.

it makes me laugh all this commentary milarkey.

COmpared to F1 footballs bloody brilliant

Steve Ryder doesn't know one end of a bus from another let alone absolutely anything about cars, he's friggin useless, and should stick to golf so I'm guaranteed never to have to see him or hear him ever again

I re-watched the highlights of the game last night on BBC. I honestly thought Motson was doing ok, until Robinson tipped that one onto the bar.
Then, as the ball reached the half way line, Motson screamed 'OR WAS IT IN!?!' - no it bloody wasn't anywhere near in, you blind, old FOOL.

I thought ITV's pundits (Mssrs Pearce, Venables and Allardyce) were pretty good last night. Motson was head and shoulders above that awful Clive Tittsley last night though (I watched both the games and the highlights afterwards) - I really don't need to be told what to think about England's performance, thanks, and I doubt most others do either. He's just so PATRONISING.

That's the real annoyance - offering (mostly completely wrong) opinions and not commentating on what is actually happening. I've just fininshed watching the highlights on UKTVG2. Whoever is commentating, is calling it as it is. Not offering inane opinions, getting it wrong, swapping in jokes with his fellow 'expert' and being smug laughing at his own jokes (take note Motson) Is that so hard for other commentators to do?

One last thing - Motson has got a Murray Walker moment to come in this world cup, I can just sense it. Something like 'Gerrard has never been sent off for England, oh, Whats this its a Red Card' Guffaw guffaw

I am really appreciating their view on things on that channel.

Yeah, and if I remember rightly that game was on itv so he probably was the commentator that night, but I am 90% sure he is an Albion fan.

No way is he an Albion fan. He's from Lancashire, he talks about Man U at any chance he can and Matt Smith even said in the Guardian that Tyldesley was a Man U fan,

No they aint anymore.

Yes they are.

UKTVG2 are showing the 'other' group games when it is broadcast on BBC. Tomorrow for instance, BBC show Brazil V Japan, UKTVG2 are showing Croatia V Australia (which will be the better game, Surely?). I think they will also provide alternative coverage to BBC when we reach the last 16, although I'm not 100% sure on that.

They are also have a highlights package on at Midnight every night and repeated during the day. More action - Less pitter patter than ITV and BBC.

Yep its the patronising bit that does it for me. Just shut the f*** up for a minute I kept thinking. And then my eight year old said just that (less the f*** bit!). Always coming at everything from an angle, grinding on "well it wouldn't be England if we didn't do it the hard way" etc etc. Just shut up

Did anyone else hear David Pleat's classic tonight.

referring to two argentinians who were not playing, he said..." I bet this has alerted mr Ambrmooooovicher to their availibility"

I kid you not..there was a silence on the commentary and I was sure you could hear people killing themselves laughing in the background.

The bloke is a menace
