I could crush a grape

Hither (sometimes Thither)
For my film reviewing "gig" i had to watch Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason yesterday.
It made me almost uncontrollably angry. I don't understand how women could feel any kinship with this bland caricature. The peddling of the notion that happiness comes in the form of an incommunicative man drives me up the wall.
What the bleeding heck has happened to feminism?

*seethe*

That is all.

I thought this was going to be a thread about Stu Francis' time fronting Crackerjack.

I'm disappointed now...

:(

Well as long as i provoked some form of reaction, i'm happy.

"I could crush a grape" usually means you are extremely happy and/or excited (at least thats what I read into Stewpots body language when he used to blurt this phrase out on Crackerjack).

I was therefore somewhat perturbed to open this thread and discover that, far from being happy and/or excited, MB is in fact SEETHING (and for good reason).

Please try to be a little more careful with your thread titles MB, so that I can be better prepared in an emotional sense for what I am about to read.

Stu Francis, eurghCreepy. Is the childrens presenter working in the DIY store on Little Britain based on him by any chance?

So far I've managed to avoid Bridget Jones and it looks like that's a good thing. As much as I enjoyed Sex and the City for it's random titilation I must say I found it very disconcerting to hear that women actually found themselves nodding their heads along to this programme because they felt emapthy towards the likes of Samantha and Carrie and agreed with what they were saying. I personally thought that programme showed women in a very bad light.

I'll try, MB. I'll try.

For my money, Bridget Jones (and yes, I'll admit to seeing both films now), seems to strike a chord with women primarily because of Bridgets less than perfect looks and figure, and her festering insecurities. Girlies can RELATE to it. I suppose women find it reassuring to know that there are other women out there who are obsessed with the size of their arses, that their bloke doesn't fancy them any more, and that they are often capable of making a complete tit of themselves in public. Its a "point and laugh" thing I suppose, where the girlies can chuckle and say "oooh, I'VE done that".

Its still all bollocks though, cos Renee Zellweiger promptly slims straight back down again after these films and once again becomes sweetly gorgeous overnight. Which real women STILL can't do for some reason - probably because of their complete lack of self discipline I'd say.

Same here.

I thought it would be a long line of his catchphrases.

"I could jump off a dolls house."

*sigh*
