............... that cannot afford £250 pounds or £100 for that matter.

I work hard but have a house and family to support. The missies is fine with football to a degree but i am sure she would go spastic if i was to tell her that I was giving the club £250 for nothing other then a name on a seat.

Does this mean that I am any less of a fan then anyone else? I love my club and we have been together through a lot, both for me and the club. I just hope that the club take on board some of the ideas that have been put forward to help raise funds. I might be able to convince the missies to come to a concert that is giving funds to the club, etc etc.

I can't afford it either, if anyone wants to call me any less of a fan for not forking out £100+ just like that then go ahead, i couldn't give a shit to be quite honest, i'm not a magician, i can't just magic it out of a hat like a little fluffy white rabbit.

I've been going home and away since 1983 and have purchased many items of club merchandise over the years but this season it's just become too expensive, so much so that this is the first year in many that i haven't even got a season ticket.

No, you're not the only one.
We're currently saving for our wedding next year. How can I justify giving £100 or (gulp) £250 to the Albion, when she's working overtime at weekends just to bring in an extra £50-£70 to put towards our wedding fund ?

On top of the money we stash away for my season ticket, I just don't see how I can build a convincing argument that she'll swallow.

Swallow. Mmmmm.

In my book (and surely in the book of many others) you are no less of a fan if you can't afford to give anything to the club.

Even if you can afford it but don't want to, I don't really care.

All this throws up some unsettling anomalies in many people's minds. Mr Popkins said that if there was a choice between helping people in Sudan and helping the Albion then it would be Sudan every time. I totally respect that, and other points of view against the principle of donating money to the Albion.

Some people will donate money, some won't. We're free to do what we want, and the concept of being a better or worse fan than anyone else really is counter productive and actually quite depressing.

Simply give what you can.

I earn good money, but have a wife, 2 kids and a trip to New Zealand next June for the Lions tour to support... these things don't come cheap........ so a small one-off donation is all that they got.

Any gesture, even help with a collection bucket, if thats waht you want to do should be seen as a significant contribution, where exactly do some of you get £250 to just throw into the pot?.......
