I mean, it's a nice conversation, at best.

But it's a little bit cringe-worthy. Two dinosaurs of the game, who have never managed at this level, giving advice to a modern manager who is already playing a high standard of football than these have ever managed at.

I love Mark McGhee and Micky Adams for what they did here - but they are not really in the position to give Fab advice over anything.

Loving Mcghees beard. He looks 🔥
Have to say Fab comes across really here. Genuinely interested in what the boys have to say, really enthusiastic.

I quite enjoyed that… I foresee some kind of cheesy podcast/spin off featuring Micky and Mark…

“Micky on the Mark”

“Mark taking the Micky”

Or… (yeah, okay)

“McGhee & Adams”

Or…

Adams & McGhee… (insert something suitably footbally) the dugout diaries…

Or…

Maybe not.

Either way, I’d like to see this relationship blossom further… in truth, I’m not sure why…? but it was like two old uncles talking about that time they had a trial for Man Utd back in the 70s… Fabs looked like he’d been cornered… yeah… interesting and informative.

The bit where Micky went all “I managed in the PL son, bet you didn’t know that???’ that’s was unintentionally hilarious in a self parody kind of way… “3-0 up and lost 4-3… (twinkle in eye) it was my fault that lad… (fab… why?) well (I was utterly out of my depth) I told them to push on for the fourth and my f***ing right winger turned round and decided to run backwards… “

Eat your heart out Pep.

Having said that, more please.

What McGhee said about man management and getting to know players is relevant an any club at any period of time

Fab's command of the English langauge is impressive (and a bit of Spanish too).
Fair play. Handles himself really well in this interview.
I’d argue his command of the language is slightly better than wee Micky’s to be fair.

It’s a little bit cringe-worthy to assert a viewpoint without checking your facts.

Both Adams and McGhee managed Leicester in the Premiership / Premier League.

I found Fab's comment very noteworthy about the need for the squad to have more physicality next season.

Which then made me think who might be most vulnerable to a move down the pecking order.
Lamptey, Cashin, Ayari, O'Riley?

By that logic, Hurzeler shouldn’t listen to Andrew Crofts as he only made a handful of appearances at this level over 10 years ago.

Come to think of it, why should Welbeck listen to Hurzeler as he was never a top level player?

Do you even know what you're trying to talk about? You seem to be just spouting words here, no offense.

Please consider that coaching and playing football are separate and distinct disciplines.

Do you even know what coaching accreditation those former managers you referred to as ‘dinosaurs’ have?

Three observations from this:

1. I think my own personal opinions on FH not being up to scratch might be wrong - humility goes a long way in my book in terms of judging emotional intelligence.

2. I didn't appreciate how knowledgeable McGhee was especially on several references to Germany or German coaching styles.

3. How the f*** did this even come about?! Are we literally digging up anyone who's had any connection to our club ever (apart from he who must never be mentioned Gus Poyet) and inviting them back to some kind of gainful/ambassadorial appointment? Is there no end to our gravy train?!

I really don't think it matters.

It's a different world, and a different game. Mark McGhee & Micky Adams would fail miserably at this level, regardless of any 'coaching accreditations" they have. Which is why they are no longer working at this level (or anything close.).

Even in their day, in their prime, they could not reach the level that Fab is at now.

Agreed. Funny how since the fans starting singing 'You don't know what you doing' and a lot of fans wanting him out. Obviously his PR team have said' on ya bike' 'Get ya Stone Island gear on in GQ' and then make a clip with two ex legend Managers. It's just so fake. Face it the guy is a bore.

Moreover, some of the best players in the world have gone on to be terrible coaches. They are different skills.

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
I was treated to Hospitality at Wolves on Saturday. McGhee came in to our lounge before the game to give his little reminiscing speech. After he'd finished, I went up to him, and introduced myself as a Brighton supporter. I shook his hand, and whilst doing so, I said to him "You'll always be remembered for being the Manager when we did Palace at Selhurst in 2005 with a McShane header!" He and his small entourage thought that was really funny, then I added "..and one or two other things as well!!"
