Having lived in Hull I can say that this is not Hull being greedy. Hull FC and Hull KR have the rugby league equivilent rivalry as Tottenham and Arsenal, Millwall and West Ham. Hull KR are the team from East Hull, Hull FC being representative of West Hull. The two hate each other.
They are also ,massively supported and are lucky enough to play in an area that is deprived socio economically, the KC Stadium was built in an area that was in polite terms a complete shit hole. This means that there is little or no oposition to building plans and these plans will be seen as part of the overall government plans to regenerate Hull.
