If FIFA 'clarified' the offside law even more and did away with it completely?

Open up the game a lot more, would stop all the players congregating in a 10 mtr square section of pitch as happened on Saturday during every goal kick.

I do not want to see the rule abolished, but ammended that you can only be offside within 30 yards from goal.

Yeah but everyone would just hang about on the 30 yard line and wait for the ball to be hoofed up to them.

There's nothing wrong with the law, just the current 'clarification' which is forcing referees to make value judgements about what is 'active' play.

would improve game in respect of walls ets when free kicks in shooting range ..effectively means players could be right on goal line

Thats exactly where I got the idea from about 20 years ago.

Yes players would hang around 30 yards from goal, but I believe it would open up the field of play and allow for more entertaining football, instead of being congested 10 yards either side of the half way line.

Teams would be less inclined to hit a ball over the top for the attackers to run onto, as the space between the defensive line and goalkeepers would be smaller and therefore any hit and hope ball would have to be perfect.

Are you listening FIFA, if you implement this idea I want the credit.

just put it back the way it was 10 years ago, if your between the last defender & goalkeeper of the opposing team when a member of your team plays the ball to you or other teammate between last defender & goalkeeper then its offside - simple!

last 10 minutes of every game the following happens:

boards all around the touchline spring up so the ball cannot go out of play. Each team can play a five minute Joker where they can make this happen too.

Then, if scores are level after 90 minutes, the players are all blindfolded, spun around 20 times, and the ball is replaced by a 3ft tall ball with a bell in it.

Winner is the first team to score. Much better than penalty shoot outs.
