My six year old grandson went to his first Seagulls match yesterday only to come away dissappointed. Will he want to go again or has he been put off for life?

The club tries various schemes but, at the end of the day, if the football is shit and the weather is too, those kids won't come again.

It's a fact that alot of younger children would rather sit at home watching the big clubs on the box, and to be fair to them the football is shit so is the weather

at home
one of our neighbours who is a chelsea fan took his two kids to Brighton yesterday( they are CFC STH's and missed out on Watford tickets) and they left at half time.

I feel really guilty as I has persuaded him to go as I told him although the place was depressing and we were crap at least it was entertaining crap.

Speaking to him this morning, they wont be going again.

I actually in a perverse way am quite enjoying this season....if you look at it dipassionately( which I know you better fans than me do not) some of the comedy defending and stuff is very funny.

I suppose being a Huddersfield fan I can see thse things from another point of view. especially as Town are having a decent season:ohmy:

I took my lad to his first game when he was 3. An FA Cup game against Rusheden & Diamonds. We sat in the North Stand and won. When he was 7, I got him his first season ticket and all was well. he's been to Spurs away, West Ham away and Cardiff for the play offs. I have watched the Albion for 33 years, since I was the same age as my son was when he first started going. He also plays for the Seagulls Club and loves it.

However, after yesterdays game, he said to me "Dad, do we have to keep going"? Jesus, what could I say? I told him we had season tickets, so we would have to stick it out until the end of the season.

How gutted did I feel? I've never not wanted to go to a game in all the time I,ve been watching them and now I wonder if my lad will ever want to go again! The style of football, the air of depression and the shitty south stand at Withdean and I have ny work cut out to convince him we should renew our tickets for next season. I'm just going to try and get him to stick it out until Falmer!:albion2:

As if you didn't feel bad enough about the game and result. I'd say 'Keep the Faith', but somehow that phrase has been devalued of late.

My 9 year old tells his plastic manc mates that we maybe we our rubbish, but at least they're our rubbish.

He doesn't need the 'success by association' factor.

And anyway, if he has a go at the Albion, I just stop his pocket money.
