How much would it take to sell your company down the river?

That's what I was discussing with various people at a computer security show yesterday. It's an interesting question: does everyone have his or her price?

I blogged about it, posted to Digg and I'd be interested to see any comments.

Oh yes, and if you have a Digg account, could you please Digg it and get it up the greasy pole.

When I was at Amex I'd have screwed them over for a KitKat Chunky to be honest. In fact, unless it was seriously high risk you probably wouldn't even need to bribe me

I knew someone who was a private dick and I was staggered at how little it took to bribe someone from a bank to reveal private data.

As for the kitkat, earlier this week there was a silly survey that purportedly revealed that most women would reveal their company password for a bar of chocolate.

My guess is that it would take very little money to bust a company wide open....I certainly don't think it would take millions like the bloke I mention in my blog.

Digg link isn't working for me right now

I don't have anything critical info wise on my company, other than knowledge of the client DB; but on the clients - entirely different story...

It would take quite a bit of money to send the company (well, Council) down, but individual people... Thats another story!!!

At the Co-Op I would have probably done it for £1000

I used to work (as a short-term contractor) for a household name in insurance. They were supposed to mask all live customer data if you were testing a new computer system. Whereas all the test files we got had real names, real addresses, phone numbers, lists of valuables - Rolexes, paintings, silverware etc etc. together with their insurance values, the kind of locks they had fitted to their windows etc etc. If I had a mind to, I could have sold any one of those files for a HUGE amount of money.
