The highs have been very high indeed - beating Chelsea twice in six days and I LOVED our win at Old Trafford, one of my fave ever away days. But the lows have also been god-awful: not just the thrashing at Forest but just the depressing pathos of throwing away leads and huffing and puffing against some very poor sides. So a funny one really.

Without Mitoma or a like for like replacement (and there aren’t too many of those) I can’t see us finishing as high next year. And not every player’s departure is inevitable or just up to them: these situations CAN be managed if you want to do so.

My highlights all involve Mitoma. The goals, the control and quite simply the stardust! Beating Chelsea twice in one week was probably my favourite.

The start of the season was great - I thought we might be having our best season ever. We were miles better at Everton and looked like we could win every game.

Coming back against Spurs was great fun. And that week of beating Chelsea twice was very nice. Thought after the first one it won't be the same next time. It wasn't: it was even better!

And beating Liverpool at last day at home was lovely too.

What were your highlights of the season?
Away games —
Probably the trips to Goodison, Norwich and Ipswich. I like going to Everton anyway but for the first game of the season, a sunny August afternoon, it was even better than normal. Hadn't been to Norwich in decades and hadn’t ever been to Portman Rd. The worst away match by a long way was Forest. Leicester was terrible too.

Home games —
Without hesitation, the week in which we beat Chelsea twice. The Tottenham, Man City, Utd, and Liverpool games were also superb.

And Bournemouth

And seeing so many young players and manager on a steep learning curve come good by end of season

Lots of good moments, but ultimately we fell short of our goal of getting into Europe again.
A football club and its fans don’t have 'one goal'. There are countless goals — from avoiding relegation through developing players and providing entertainment and making a profit and expanding the fan base and winning a trophy and scoring x amount of goals and… yea, getting into Europe is anothergoal. We’ve succeeded on numerous fronts and failed on others. For me personally, getting into Europe really isn’t the be all and end all.

We have had some great moments; the Tottenham comeback at home; the Valentine’s Day massacre of Chelsea and Mitoma’s sublime goal; Man Utd being beaten again (should be beating sides like manure); helping Man City with their slide down the table; the Fulham late show; the West Ham late late show with Baleba’s last gasp winner; Liverpool at home and the double against Spuds today.

After years of watching Albion I will always enjoy as very much part of my winter. Too many highs to mention. Will always have poor games and thankfully not many. However do think manager brought some negatives on himself Starting with Manager feeling oblgated to bring Dunk on at half time against Southampton when our 2 CBs had been outstanding for several games. and playing 3 at back with Perv at LWB. Didnt work then but repeated at Fulham. Far to many needless penalties given away. and his team selection agaist Forest was one os the most ridiculous I have seen Our keeper also at fauly for to many goalsing
3 outstanding players that make us a top 10 team VanHk Baleba and Mitoma
Very disapointed to think Milner may stay on for another season Surely we have moved on. Maybe manager is to nice and wants to help him reach record appearances

Yes but the fact we spent the most money by some margin and we didn't have to play in Europe, I think we were okay, nothing more nothing less, RDZ would have got us in Europe without us having to wait for Chelsea help us.

Hurzeler had a better points per game record than RDZ in his first season
1.57 - P38 W16 D13 L9

RDZ in 22/23 was P32 W14 D7 L11 or
1.53

Worthing
New manager, the youngest ever manger in the top flight
takes us to our second best finish ever.

Anyone scoring less than 5 has an acute attack of Entitlement virus.
Sadly penicillin won't work.
Just no.

3

Impressive 8th place, but this should have been the year to at least replicate RdZ’s 6th place.

However, some great moments…
Newcastle away x 2
Enjoyed destroying Southampton and Spurs today
Liverpool and City at home.
Chelsea at home (but is that even a shock?)

Already feel excited for next year….

Season of extremes and learning for all

Frustrating that you could pick 1 of several games where we were in a position to take 3 points at ended up with 1 BUT chuffed we’ve ended up in 8th just a shame that lot up the road have won silverware
