Ask me later tonight...

Seriously speaking I am the Potterstalker and would at present be following Brighton even if the potterian adventure started out in League Two and thinking about it, I would perhaps preferred it.

Following Swansea in the Championship was a lot easier in many ways because the road upwards was more visible. In the PL all but 8 teams are going to look downwards, in fear, every damn year. You cant joke about a bad performance because there's so much life or death to it. Its also a league with very little personality, evertyhing is shiny and polished, glossy and expensive and you can almost see how every day spent in that league corrupts the mind of players, clubs, fans, everyone.

And all the red carpet fascism with the VAR shit and the whimping on the pitch and the corresponding shit you guys have to deal with off pitch... be friendly with the tourists, dont curse too much, dont sing that song its offensive, leave your bottle caps at home.

Its pretty painful tbh and I say that as someone who does not even have to bother about some of the shit like i.e. the wheelbarrows of money needed to watch a game.

I don’t enjoy losing so I’m not enjoying football as much as I did when we were beating everybody in the Championship a few seasons ago. That said I’ll always be a Brighton fan whatever league we find ourselves in so it doesn’t really matter. Winning games is more fun though!

5. Meh. Premier league is only any good if you’re one of the “big teams”. The rest of us are mostly just making up the numbers and winning 10 a season. Not great is it.

VAR is a brilliant idea badly executed by officials who have never played the game .
Being a fully paid up member of the best league in the world is brilliant .
Conversely being treated as second rate make weights by the Elite top 6 is bloody annoying and patronising .
On a good day there is nothing better , on a bad day i would rather have a root canal .

If we managed that I think most of us would be happy.

Assuming we had 10 draws as well.

It's definitely more enjoyable going into games worried that the opposition has Kevin DeBruyne rather than Fernando Forestiere.

Decrying Gross' lack of pace is better than doing it for Darren Currie.

On a selfish level, lots more TV games is good for me as I can only get to a handful of games. Moaning about being last on MOTD is better than not being on it.

Put me down as a 7.
9 if we win tonight.
3 if we lose.

voted 7 - given the choice i'd obviously rather stay but wouldnt be devastated going to Champioship where the football is more exciting and we will probably be one of the stronger teams which means more fun to watch

Is the only answer.

However, you could be married to the most kindly, witty, fragrent and avid partner and still go through a rough patch.

So I think a more instructive poll would be "How much would you rather be in the Championship (or lower) than in the Premier league?", with 0 being 'you're OK mate' and 10 being '**** me yes, and you can shove that Amex up your arse too. I want the Albion playing up at East Hill Park, with jumpers and dog shit for goal posts'

Perhaps someone might create a thread and poll?

This one will do fine.

I want to know if people are enjoying the experience, not where we should be playing. Because, believe it or not, if enough people complain about VAR and 5.30 kick offs on a Monday these twin evils might be at least tweaked, if there is anyone out there who still gives a toss about the fans. And, if there isn't that's perfect reason enough to vote with a low number.

I can remember playing Watford at home in our first Premier League season when they had done some previous yo-yoing. On the train from Brighton to Falmer were four Watford lads who I would say were late 20s / early 30s. Pissed as lords, dressed as Super Mario characters and still chugging Stella. They spent the whole journey telling my impressionable 11 year old son and his mate how much more fun The Championship was, how shit the Premier League was and how relegation really wouldn't be the end of the world.

Gods country fortnightly
Pros
You get to see some of the best teams and best players in the world
More media coverage (is that a good thing?)
Bucket loads of money

Cons
We get beaten......a lot!
VAR is the worst thing ever to happen to the game
Lots more mongy fans
Even shit players cost a fortune
Fewer games
Horrific kick off times (appreciate that isn't a exclusive to PL)
Very few decent away days
Best we can ever hope for is a cup run

Good summary, despite everything I'd still give it an 8. Its great to be mixing it with the top sides.

A few rumblings on other threads, so time for a definitive POLL.

How much are you loving the Premier League experience on a scale of 1-10. One being that you have given up watching or are about to due to the PL and 10 being that it is the best thing since a Peter Ward hattrick.

I am about a 3 I think. VAR, games you have little or no hope in and stupid kick off times have made the PL the thing I should have been careful I wished for. Diving, big team bias and some woeful punditry do not help either. I would personally be happy with a few seasons in the Championship. However, I understand fully this does not work for the club as an organisation and its owners and leaders. It's a totally personal preference, not a statement of ambition.

Do away with VAR and become a little more competitive, however, and I'm sure my vote would change to much more towards the top of the scale.

You?

Small fish big pond, big fish small pond. Right now it feels like we are Tadpoles swimming with Great Whites. feels like we haven't learnt much since we have been in the PL and whilst it could be said we have been very unlucky we have also been very 'soft'. Prefer the Championship as far more exciting but then again if we were lurking closer to the top 6 it would feel the same.

I hate the commercialism of the Premier League but don't want to be relegated.

I do miss those seasons where we the fans were important and the club were grateful for every penny that we spent. And I go far enough back to remember the Supporters Club in the tiny back room near St Peters Church. Yes that was our club shop.

Nowadays we are replaceable. If we don't like things there are plenty in the ST queue to replace us.

Every last penny is squeezed out of us in very unfriendly ways be it through flask or bottle top bans (and I still don't buy that 'security' bull. It is to make us spend more money on overpriced refreshments). We are treated like criminals being searched at turnstiles because the club doesn't treat long term fans any differently to one match casuals.

So yes, give me Premier League but treat us like fans and not customers.

I'm happy we are in the 'top-flight'
As most will know fully well, that IF we are relegated, it'll be blood hard to get back in the PL.

Stripping out this year, an easy 8 out of 10.

I don't want to play Yeovil on a Tuesday night, I want to play Liverpool at 3pm on a Saturday!

Hmmm. You're right that the Sami season under him was wretched but I quite enjoyed seeing Hughton rescue it with some slow death bore draws and the odd win.

Anything after Sami would have appeared fun....

enjoy it while its there for what it is. Personally I have more enjoyed watching a group in a pub or small theatre than large stadium/park venues .
