Actually.....you are correct. So its one fewer for me. Poor, on my part.Surely Goodwin was already in place in 1969?

Awful wasn’t it? 🫣 But it did allow me to correct my wife’s pronunciation of “Trebilcock” a few days ago. This thread started me on a bit of a nostalgia trip. Those who started with Archie Macauley like me, do you remember Southern Soccer with Maurice Eddleston? Saints or Pompey pretty much every week. Ray Hiron and Mike Trebilcock for Portsmouth, Terry Paine and Jimmy Melia for Saints. Ourselves. Bournemouth and Southend (?), would get 1 or 2 games a season. That and Football Focus with Sam Leitch were my .main exposure to televised football then. I wasn't allowed to stay up for MOTD :-( .
31. Same as you! I started watching the Albion in 1965 - my first game was the Bedford Town cup tie which ended 1-1, and we lost the replay 2-1. There are some notable gaffers in that list - Pat Saward, Mullers, Micky Adams, Gorgeous Gus, and the last four of Hughton, Potter, RDZ, and Fab, who I reckon could be our best ever coach. You can forget Brian Clough - we were just a convenient stepping stone.31 in my case.
Anyone see us under George Curtis, Billy Lane, Don Welsh, Tommy Cook or (heaven forfend) the legend, Charlie Webb?

Same for me.Bloody hell, 26 in total! Didn't realise just how many for me.
Oh yes, I remember all that very well. Apart from the Home Internationals and the ONE single televised club game every year (FA Cup Final) it was pretty much all we had. And no, I wasn't allowed to stay up for MoTD either, but when I was older I was allowed to watch the football highlights (European games or internationals) on 'Sportsnight with Coleman'. They'd show them after the ice skating or showjumping. This thread started me on a bit of a nostalgia trip. Yes as well as the cup final they always showed the England v Scotland game live. The youngsters today don't know they're born. Completely forgot Sportsnight.Oh yes, I remember all that very well. If you were going to pick two managers to miss, Hinsh and Hyppia would be good ones, Mickey Adams second coming would be another I wished I had never seen. Not sure. My first game Sept 74, so Taylor would have been manager, but I was only 3 months old then and missed a few. I watched FA Cup final on the telly so that probably counts Melia, and next game I know I was at was a Blackburn game in 84 with Frank Worthington on the program cover, so that must add Cattlin, and then started going regularly when Mullery was in charge second time round. Then all the rest, except I never saw a game played under Hyppia or Hinshelwood, live or on the telly, so have to exclude them. So that makes 22, or 23 if we're counting Micky twice
I can remember that we often had The Big Match rather than Southern Soccer which usually meant a big London team and highlights from games in other parts of the country. It was always a let down if it turned out be Southern Soccer with Pompey. I remember Hiron; he was terrible and Milkins in goal who looked over 60.This thread started me on a bit of a nostalgia trip.
