How many jobs have you had.... ?

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
How VERY dare you - I hate teachers as much now as when I went to school. No I'm not and never, never suggest that again.
By the way, you should know I'm not a teacher because they preface everything they say with 'well I'm a teacher so' as if it adds weight to their pronouncements!!!

Why do you hate teachers?

Why do you hate teachers?

Hmm. Start with ritual humiliation at junior school being turned upside down in front of class to illustrate multiplying fractions, being slapped round the face for struggling to follow dance steps in 'Music and Movement' (age of poster spoiler!), slapped legs when others had been misbehaving. I could move on to secondary school or my encounters with teachers in adulthood but it would take too long. But now I've mentioned it, you'll be surprised by how many people on TV/radio programmes and life generally use the phrase' well I'm a teacher' either to make their comment carry more weight, or to preface expressing surprise that they don't something whether related to their expertise or not. I met a teacher thisyear who took just 20 seconds in our meeting to get it out there! Yes, my personal bugbear.

"Working your way up from kitchen porter to head chef is the amazing thing about people, and then you have an odd jump in work which makes people intresting."

Professional impropriety ?.
Or not wanting to work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, including Friday night, Saturday night and all day Sunday

hod carrier-5 years
bricklayer-25 years
picking apples-1 year
in a kitchen-6 years

didn't mind the monkey, was young and fit,was a good crack back then, finishing lunch times Friday then straight in the boozer

love bricklaying, espcially when you get yourself in a good gang, very satisfying knowing you've built something that will be there for the next 50-100 years

apple picking was very tough, walking around with a 8 foot metal ladder all day, having to meet a certain quota and meet quality control, the Polish lads I worked with were really good blokes, but the French owner was a bit of a ****
also in the winter and believe me the south of France gets very cold,we had to do the pruning with pneumatic sacateurs, very dangerous nearly lost a finger using them

the kitchen is definately the easist of the jobs, but I only prep starters & desserts, nice working indoors here, summers are too hot and the winters too cold, only drawback is the money is shit, but I'm lucky to have a job, lots of unemployment in France
