Next season will see the authorities (supposedly) clamp down on time wasting and will implement the new 8 second rule for keepers with the ball in their hands, awarding a corner to the attacking team in the event of this time being exceeded. How many extra corners are going to be given next season and which keeper will likely be penalised the most - for my money it has to be Martinez at Villa.

Be interesting to see how regularly this is enforced and whether it does quicken the game up somewhat.

He won't be there next season, so probably Pickford.

10 or so in the first few weeks of the season, then, like all the other new initiatives, it will be forgotten and it will be business as usual.

Exactly this. Just like 2 or 3 seasons ago when they implemented all the added time in both half's of the game. They soon found out half the games finished way beyond the time the TV companies scheduled for their sports results/scores at 1700hrs. Was quickly dropped after a few weeks.

Ditto the thing Veltman got Declan Rice sent off.

Or yellow card for standing in front of the ball or kicking it away at a free kick. What happened to that by October?

At least we seem to have relegated to the dustbin of history that idiot Plodder thing whereby you voluntararily reduce your team to ten men by having one of them loiter by the corner flag like a spare part while fooling absolutely nobody :lolol:

My first thought was four. Definitely four.
You beat me to it.

Four is traditional though.
Four corners.
Four candles.
Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

It has always been that way.

We seemed to have turned the corner on that one - oops, sorry! Anyway, two against Spurs last week and you never know, we might be the set piece kings of the PL next season.
One swallow doesn’t make a summer. At least that’s what I tell the wife on my birthday.
