I think a lot of it is the frustration that the club can't reach it's full potential or even stand on it's own feet due to no fault of anyone currently attached to the club.

I honestly think I get far more pleasure watching the Albion punch above their weight than any Man U or Arsenal fan does. As an exile stuck up North and unlikely to be ever able to afford to move down to Sussex the Albion is the umbilical cord to my roots, my old friends, emotions and memories.

No United, Arsenal or other fan of a multi-millionaire studded premierhsip team can ever experience the gut wrenching, heart stopping moments of misery, joy and terror we had at Hereford, the community of spirit that brought down the evil axis of Archer and Bellotti, or the pride that we had in returning to Sussex.

I first watched the Albion in 1974, but did not consider myself a true fan until 1980. I have dumped girlfriends who have dared to say that "it's only football" following relegation in 1983 and 1987, because it's not football, the Albion goes way, way beyone that.

Well said, that man! It,s true, considering our current lack of resources, that we are in a position far above what we could reasonably expect.Something the whingers and moaners on this board should consider the next time they post their depressing drivel

The thing I miss is not the higher standard of football( we were only there for 4 years after all) but the thirty thousand gates we could get in those days when we were going well or playing a top team.God the Goldstone was a great place in the seventies when it was full.I can remember big midweek games when I was at secondary school and I could`nt concentrate for 1 minute on school work. I bought a Derby County ticket for my brothers mate for about 2 quid and 7 Gold Leaf in 76 off a mate at school.Exorbitant price to pay in those days.
