How important is the League cup?

Gate receipts are split 45%/45% with 10% going into the reward pot.

Even if we sell out at an average of £25 a ticket (free 1901/comps) - that is about £500k - so £225k each. That doesn't take into account the cost of hosting the tie (although one would assume we make a profit on subsidiaries).

I don't know what the prize money is in the early rounds, but losing semi-finalists take home £25k, the runner-up bags £50k and the winner trousers £100k, so pretty minimal.

i may be wrong but I think the split is made after costs of staging the game are taken out.
Not forgetting the £100,000 in retail revenue.

I'm not saying it's profit but it's revenue

It's important for our squad to keep improving, and by playing better teams in both this and the FA cup I believe they will. Obviously if you are struggling near the bottom of the league, then the cups become less important. But even though BoF's figures do seem to be about right, it's still revenue, and that is what we need.
