Edit Title: How good is our squad.

Presuming we had a manager that could get the best out of the players (and played them in the right positions!) how good would you say our squad is on paper.

Personally I would say about 4th or 5th best...

Goalkeepers: Kuipers Sullivan

Defenders: Whing, McNulty, Virgo, Elphick, Hinshelwood, Hawkins, El-Abd (Lynch)

Midfielders: Livermore, Jarrett, Carole, Birchall, Fraser, El-Abd, Cox, Mcleod (Loft), (Robinson)

Strikers: Murray, Forster, Davies, Andrews

Looking at the squad, if we got a new manager in, I really think we could push for promotion next season...

Adams kept the players locked in for 40 mins or so after today. No doubt to give them a roasting. When will he learn that it isn't the players but hes shit tactics, players out of posistion etc. This squad is a decent squad,it's Adams and his coaching staff who should hold there heads up in shame.

Completely over achieved last season so I would say we are 12th (mid table) team.

Agreed but...

Last years squad: 12th-15th

This years squad: top 8

New signings: Carole, Birchill, Davies, Andrews, McNulty, Mcleod, Livermore, Hawkins,Jarrett, Virgo, Hinshelwood now fit.

Apart from Hawkins, every one of those players adds to the squad (even if he has been unable to sort out Mcloeds discipline)

Yeah agreed but the new signings have been at the club for a week now: Davies ,carole, mcnulty and jarrett and birchall slightly longer so they have had three weeks shall we say to make an impact.

Also i really feel last season Wilkins had a fit Forster and Murray playing together for long periods. I not remember when these two played together when fit for a period. When Murray is injured Forster is fit and vice- versa

Yes but he had the same squad as last year, plus Virgo and Livermore.

These two players along greatly improved the squad.

Livermore in midfield and Virgo at centre back makes the team ALOT stronger, but how many times has he played them there?

I thought the same at the start of the season too. My own personal opinion is that Livermore has limited mobility. I would agree that Livermore has not had his chance in the squad though.

The Adam Virgo situation I feel is difficult because his best days in a Brighton shirt were not at centre back. He played at right back under McGhee when we got promoted from this division and played up front the season after and did well.

I keep reading that 'on paper' we have a really good squad. It's something that's been repeated pretty much all season. Yet. Results suggest that they're not all that. We lose. A lot. We don't win. Even in the JPT we seem to have won half our games on penalties. We've conceded loads of times in injury time or the last few minutes. Whilst I believe that Adams needs to accept some of the blame, he can't be wholly responsible can he? Maybe it's a case of a manager mismanaging poor players?

Good enough for the play-offs. Hopefully it will be in this division next season though.

How many times has he done that this season ?. No doubt today they are all in for lots of running again.

We don't HAVE a squad.
We have a bunch of decent players, which is, altogether, different.

I'd agree with that but the worrying thing is that their confidence is shot to pieces and good players and becoming poor players. If the likes of Nicky Forster are suffering just think what is happening to our younger players.

We should be a top 6 team but we are presently where we deserve to be.

Eh? We don't have a top 10 squad, simple as that. I can't think of a player who is having his potential really constrained. There's a few 'good ones' for League One, but generally the rest are ok or other.
