How fancy! Private messages are now on main screen

ohhh lookie at this! When a PM is sent by someone to you, you get a message at the top of the screen, highlighted in purple, saying you have one unread personal message!

The pop-up box still does just that.

But a number of times, it doesn't seem to pop up and people have unread messages that just sit there for ages.

This is just a backup to it.

Are you sure? I always get the pop-up box but juist didn't for the first time.

The new bar can easily be missed because of the colour.

I've removed the pop up option now because I have a pop up stopper and it was getting annoying.

This is the first time I have ever got a pop up box. Did we have one before then or am I just stupid?

when you get the pop-up box hold down the SHIFT key (if using Google Toolbar anti-pop-up) when pressing the OK button and it opens up in a new window leaving you free to broswe NSC whilst using PM's!
