How does subsidised train travel work?

Does anyone know why the zone has never extended as far east as Eastbourne? As it stands we will as before have to purchase a return to Lewes.

Been suggested that the club will look at it by Insider. People have said that you can travel from Shoreham (9 stations away) but you cant travel from Glynde (2 stops away) - next season should make it a bit cheaper though as only tickets to the zone boundary will be needed.

The zone is indeed Worthing to Lewes to Seaford to Haywards Heath, it is not worth messing about if you're travelling long distance as a ticket to Falmer would be the same as Brighton from London and further afield.

As for buying a ticket to Haywards Heath and then travelling on your voucher technically it wouldn't be valid if your train didn't stop at Haywards Heath. Two tickets must be used on trains that stop at that station or you need to book to the next station which would be Brighton so you would be travelling without a valid ticket if you caught the Fast Brighton trains that don't stop at Haywards Heath.

Ernest, thanks. This is what I suspected, and why I didn't bother with vouchers last season.

I am inclined to think its the former and therefore its based on quite a significant amount of fans coming from Eastbourne area.

I think the cost is probably the biggest factor, weighting it up against the number of fans coming from Eastbourne.

Can I just check something on this. I am also someone who paid for the vouchers and used them on trains, buses, park and ride etc, so no complaints from me in principle about the levy.

But is it definitely the same idea within the travel area (ie no further cost). The word used was 'subsidised' by the season ticket levy in the literature, I was wondering if that meant 'no additional cost' or 'some lesser adidtional cost' within the zone.

This is the answer I've had from the club, which seems good news.

"Next season you will only require a ticket from Newark North to Haywards Heath; from Haywards Heath to Falmer your match day ticket will permit you to travel to and from the stadium...your match day ticket will cover the leg from Haywards Heath whether you stop or not."

Hope this is helpful to others.
