I find myself struggling to care how it's pronounced. It pales into insignificance when compared to the decision of cream on jam or jam on cream.

Some idiots prefer to put jam on first. :tosser::shit::facepalm:
In Devon, the scones are split in two and topped with cream followed by jam. In Cornwall, the split scones are topped with jam and then cream.

Cornish way for me. :D

Doesn't the magic e make the vowel hard like phone? Mind you a few here probably say their "mobil phon".

Yes but, No but....What about a Dorset Knob - is it a biscuit or a cake?
Leedo or Liedo is another one of these too. (Lido)
Leedo for me as in Lido de Jesolo

Most Brits say Liedo

Ebitha or Eyebitha is another (Ibiza). This is one hundred percent Ebitha though

Ibeesa

First time I went, around 1980 we called it eyebeeza, all the cool people called it eyebeetha
Fifteen years later, eyebeetha, no, Ibeetha
Fifteen years later Ibeetha, no, Ibeesa

and so on. Don't get me started on two beers, s, b, th, v

I have now totally changed and pronounce it to rhyme with 'gone'.
This is probably the best example NSC has in 2023 of self-improvement

You fool.

Of COURSE the jam goes on first. Its a spread. Cream is a TOPPING. You do not, repeat do NOT, put jam on top of a topping. I'm frankly exasperated to even have to explain this at half eleven on a Friday.

And look what you made me do. Three capitalised words in one post FFS (4 if you count that).
