last week we turned up with 8 men and took a 12.1 thumping.
so after not getting a team all season and taking the following beatings we have packed up and taken our ball home.
lost 6.0
lost 12.2
lost 21.0
lost 5.0
lost 8.0
lost 12.1

after 7 years of being a fairly succesfull team we have called it a day.

quitter!!! my old team used to lose 18-0 etc all the time. in the end we just counted a goal as a victory. it was so much fun!

That's a tragedy but all to familiar - we had a local team fold in Shoreham after 40 years playing last season, luckily for us at ASC they donated the £500 they had left to us to buy a new kit so it has their message on it.

if we got 11 players each week and got hammered i would want to keep playing still. problem is we were only getting 9 players most weeks and 8 last week. if you only turn up with 10 men the club gets a 20 pound fine, 9 men £40 pound, 8 men £60 pound etc. the players that stayed from last season are used to winning and cannot take it much longer and the others are just useless. (dragged in to try and keep the club running). these are the reasons we packed up.
but in hoping to play for the team that beat us 12.1 last week. they said if we fold they would take me on. it looks like i may take their offer up.

Sonia founded the club bless her, for some obscure reason it was called Gatwick United at first.

We've been going around 13 years now so you must have been in right from the start.

Well done :clap2: :clap2:

i must admit i was rather upset last week. i had a lot of mates playing in that team. this other team where i may be going, i dont know any of them. but 1 maybe 2 other players from the old team might be going to them aswell. and i suppose its meeting new people again, which cannot be a bad thing.

Unfortunately Sonia had some personal problems and disappeared off the scene around five years ago.

However three years ago we had the 10th anniversary and she was guest of honour and looked in good health.

She trained my son at first when he was an under 6 - still see her every now and then so she must be living locally.

You may be right but the club is still in very good health, I am overall Club Manager as well as running the U13s and my youngest has joined the U8s.

We have U15s, U14s, U13s, U12s, U11s, U9s and U8s.

Not bad going after all these years and we are solvent on the cash side.

I wouldn't say big boss, more like the one who manages all the parental expectations !

Sometimes a feel a desk would be more appropriate in Buckingham Park to resolve all the disputes :lolol:

I rarely get near training but luckily 2 other dads do this with me as well so I get to my fair share of away games as well.
